I'm working away from my normal building and saw this quote on the desk of the woman I am covering for today.
"Be not the slave of your own past-plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience, that shall explain and overlook the old." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Sometimes I feel like all of my attempts and failures before are a chain around my neck weighting me down and reinforcing that I'll never be anything more than what I am now. In my conscious mind though, I know that isn't true even though it feels true. While perfect is not possible, I can make a conscious effort that whenever there is a decision to eat good healthy food or not, to get enough sleep or not, to exercise or not, I can choose in that moment who I want to be and make the choice that I will be proud and glad of instead of the one that may give me momentary surcease, but only reinforces the idea that I can never change. I can change and own my life, living it joyfully and as I heard a pretty great kid say, "Be awesome." So today, I choose to be awesome, to be inspiring, to be uplifting and joyful and know that I can be that person by making the choice each time it is presented to me and remembering that it is not all about me. I can help other people by making the choice joyfully.
