The Apostle Paul writes in l Corinthians 6:19-20:
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
Have you ever thought of your body in this way? That your body is not your own? That you are a child of God and you belong to Him? Probably not.
We tend to think of our bodies as our very own to do with whatever we feel like. We can eat whatever we want to and drink whatever and as much as we want. It doesn't matter because it's OUR body.
Wrong. Our bodies are a gift from God and He wants us to take good care of them and to honor Him with our bodies. We need to give our bodies the right amount of healthy, wholesome food. We have to be careful about what we put into our bodies, like alcohol, which is really a toxin. We certainly must avoid tobacco which contains many toxins to the body. And we need to exercise which is necessary for a healthy body.
When we take care of our bodies, which is the most important thing we have in this life, we honor God. It shows we appreciate the "Gift of Life" He has given us.
