New foods... A new awakening!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

When we inject ourselves with toxic foods that are not healthy for us, why does the world lose its color and shine? Cookies, cakes, chips and donuts remind us of those childhood birthday parties where we played musical chairs, won a prize and perhaps we were the ones blowing out the candles and receiving presents. However, we are now adults and realize that all that junk food wired us up as kids and then just let us down like an unfaithful friend.
We have new friends in healthy foods... They are crunchy, vibrant and colorful. They have vitamins and are low in calories. They reward us with weight loss and make us feel alive in a healthy way not a wired up way. They come from our earth.......which once again appears to us with such beauty. This is the way life should be..... A world of fruits and vegetables and all that is healthy for us!

You understand the dynamics of food's appeal very well...and thoroughly! I gradually - very gradually! - got used to eating more and more produce, and now I actually *enjoy* shopping for it at the grocery store! It has become my mainstay, something much more appealing than the wall-to-wall junk food (chips, cheese, candy, cookies, those nasty little frozen hors d'oeuvres with all the cheese and fat!) used to be. And this happened when I was 59 years old - I'm still shocked, LOL!

I am working on getting back to nature's way of eating. I like how you described eating certain foods as being toxic because for me they are. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us today. Great blog!
