Target Tuesday: Day 2

I love themes. And that's why every day I write (Monday-Friday) will have a special theme. One thing I really want to talk about though are my goals. Of course there are no days that start with a G so I've decided to call it Target Tuesday. Basically I'm going to write down the details of one goal I have. They may not always be huge, but that's how goals are. I have some big ones and some small ones as I imagine everyone else here does too.

And so we get to a shortish-longterm goal of mine. For my 30th birthday, I would like to go to Antarctica with my husband. You might be wondering what's stopping me. Well, I have a back injury which is severely aggravated by my weight. There are days when I can barely walk from my house to the street without holding onto something or using a walker. I want to be able to wander Antarctica without pain. Or be able to easily drop to my knees (and get back up) to take a picture of a penguin at his level. Oh and I really need to take a cruise to see if I can even handle rough seas. That last one sounds so horrible, I know. emoticon

How am I going to make my goal a reality?
1. Weight loss. I think that one is pretty clear. Being active on SP, watching my food and working out will all work towards that.
2. Weekend Walks. I love being outdoors. I love hiking and just wandering through forests. My walks may start out small but my hope is that as time goes on I'll be able to go a little further each time.
3. Research Cruises!

It won't be easy but I think it is one of my closer long term goals. And in the end I know it will be worth all the work. That is assuming I don't find out I get horribly seasick.


Yesterday went really well. I did go over my food goals somewhat. But I'm really going to try to make up for that today by sticking to it. I also did a bit of gentle yoga which is designed for people with back/mobility problems like mine. It taught me several things. 1. I have no concept of time. And 2. I have trouble remembering to breathe while working out in any way. I'm really not sure how to fix either of those. I suppose it will give me something to research today. I also found a couple of awesome websites that are really going to help me out going forward.

The first is I have so many things to do these days I really need a checklist for every day. I've set it up so the list will repeat every week as I often have the very same things to do each day of the week every week. I do love a good routine.

The second website I found is to help me prepare for my garden I've decided to have this year. so far looks amazing. I was able to plot out my garden easily and it gave me a custom planting schedule for my area. Unfortunately it does require a subscription after your free 30 days. I suppose as I approach the end of my 30 days I'll have to consider it.


Today so far I'm a bit behind in everything. I didn't eat breakfast. I got up at 9 and just sat here for two hours. It's put me behind in everything. I might have corn flakes for lunch. I love corn flakes. I'll have to take some time to do my Coursera classes. I have a schedule I'm supposed to stick to but I may need to change it to make it a bit more realistic. I did work out already though! It really wasn't much, I did one of the SP generated workouts with the exception of one of the movements because I can't lay on my front side. Anyway, I suppose I should get to the rest of my day! Have a great one!

    Breathing right when exercising really hit a chord with me. I still struggle with it, especially when trying to swim - "trying" being the operative word. Sounds like you have some wonderful goals. Antarctica will be awesome when you get there - and - you will get there!

    I will have to have a look at the app, sounds like it could come in really handy. A friend of mine is actually the owner/manager of a Curves not too far from me. So far I've been slightly too terrified to go. Maybe once I get my back in better condition I'll be braver.

    I think it is important to dream big dreams! Researching the specifics is so important. Too many times I think people just assume they can't afford something or that they would never get time off work, etc. We have to try!

    Also: I highly recommend the app Home Routines for using FlyLady style routines with room for different checklists.

    You listed some interesting websites I think I'll check out. I've been dying to try some of the SP workouts but I work full time and when I get home my time is pretty much taken up by "other things". I do work out at Curves before I even get home. That is my BEST way of taking some me time. Thanks for you blog.
