Alright, here we are, Day 1 of the new me. Arguably the hardest day ever in my new lifestyle.
Here is what I did to start off
1.I got up early and worked out...finally! After laying in bed for 15 minutes talking myself out of it, I finally decided to get up and do the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred that I had bought yesterday. Working out in the morning is always something I have wanted to do, but have become pretty good at making excuses for. I live in the middle of nowhere so being home alone in the morning is still scary as crap for me. But today, I did it! I was so proud of myself after, and now 16 hours later I am starting to get sore (actually I started getting sore 3 hours after…sad I know).
2.I made all my food ahead of time and packed it all up! Last night I chopped lettuce and packaged everything. Here is what I packed for the day: 1 chobani raspberry greek yogurt, 1 cup of Special K chocolately delight cereal, 1 salad with lettuce, 4 oz of turkey, and 2 tbsp of Italian dressing, water water water, 1 cup of green beans. After my workout I had 3 eggs with turkey, and a protein shake.
3.I avoided the work cafeteria at all costs! This was NOT easy.
So how did it go?
Well, when I got home from work I was starving so I ate another cup of green beans. I then proceeded to eat a 1,000 calorie dinner consisting of a filet minogn, pasta sides, green beans and broccoli, and a salad.
Lessons I learned from today
•If I workout in the morning, I need to do either the protein shake or the eggs and turkey, not both, not needed.
•I need to make sure I eat every 2.5 hours at least, I went too long before lunch and ended up eating everything I packed all at once
•Track food asap, having to catch up on lunch and dinner tracking was not fun
•Pay attention to my food triggers. Here in the Midwest we were treated to a nice January evening with temperatures in the upper 50’s…VERY unusal for January. How did I react? Well warm weather makes my husband want to grill, which we did, which made me want to sit on the back porch with a beer and have a meal with the good ol’ basics: meat, veggie, starch, salad, beer, dessert. Blame it all on my roots, but the warm weather REALLY messed me up. So next time I will be prepared.
•Chobani yogurt is amazing!!! I just bought my first yogurt yesterday to “try it out” and OMG why did I wait so long?! I am not a yogurt fan at all, but this I could handle!
So, tonight I made a HUGE pot of roasted veggies, baked a whole package of chicken breasts, made another salad, got my workout clothes ready….on to Day 2!!!!
