Just managed to squeeze in 30 mins on the bike before getting ready for work. Considering there was a full moon last night, we actually had a decent shift. Yay.
Spark Coach: " reasons behind your fitness and weight-loss goals. What is your true motivation? What do you hope to achieve or experience after reaching your goal?" I've decided this coach asks some pretty tough questions. I think the main reason behind my fitness and weight loss goal is to simply feel better about myself. I've had body image issues for years. I'm going to be 52 in the spring. I look at my sister, who I love dearly, and worry about the strong genetic link for heart and kidney disease. My sister has had high blood pressure since her first child was born 27 years ago. She had chronic kidney infections as a child which is partly responsible for the blood pressure. She recently had bilateral cataract surgery. She's overweight. And also now a diabetic. She will be 55 in June. I love her but I don't want this to be my destiny. My mother struggles with high blood pressure too and I watch her shrink a little bit more every year. I know that some of these health issues can't be stopped or slowed down by simply eating healthy and exercising. And really, I do feel good after exercising. I'm always amazed at that, yet I struggle to get there. To put in that DVD, to get on the bike. I want to age gracefully. I want to look healthy, be active and enjoy those "senior" years (when they come). And, should my children ever marry, and or have children, I want to be healthy enough to enjoy those grandchildren. That, is all.

I hear you loud and clear. I am so glad you made time for 30 minutes on the bike before work. It is a great way to start your day. Did you notice that you handled work a little better too? I also work 12 hour shifts. Actually they usually come out to being more like 13 hour shifts.. anyway... it is really hard to get it done before work but I find that my day goes a lot smoother on the days I work out before going to work. After work is just out of the question. I have done it a few time but it is a zombie type of work out and it just doesn't help me. Hope you have a fantastic rest of your week. Good job investing in yourself. You are stronger than you think you are. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
