One thing I love about SparkPeople is "meeting" new people who are also trying to maintain or begin a healthy lifestyle. I like reading blogs about people like me. I also like reading blogs about people who have very different struggles.
I know there are some people who dislike getting on the scale. I have a great respect for this even though I can't completely relate to it.
I've never felt the desire to avoid the scale. I feel like it's going to tell me the facts. Sure, some days I like what it says and other days I don't. But I have to know the truth. Then I can take the next steps, whatever those might be.
Yes, my weight fluctuates. My weight can easily go up a pound in a couple days time, even if I know I've been within my calorie range (thank you Bodybugg). This can be from many factors, including what I eat or drink.
I try to weigh myself often enough that I can see if it keeps going up. That's the real test for my mind--if it keeps going up steadily I know there's something amiss, or something that needs to change. If it comes back down in a couple days, I feel more confident that it was a temporary issue.
In any case, using my scale regularly arms me with information. Armed with that information I can move forward.
