Well on Friday, January 11, 2013 (the day before my birthday), I had my appt and the EKG came back ABNORMAL 3xs! The nurse kept saying it is probably my machine and I said NOPE it is just my body trust me. I told her that Thursday I had been having chest pains, not really sharp but uncomfortable pains more or less. So the doctor after looking at the EKG sent me to 2nd floor to see cardiologist RIGHT AWAY I not gonna lie I was starting to get worried. So, the cardiologist sees me and says I am a very interesting case! I told him you are NOT the 1st dr to tell me that and you won't be the last. So he said we have to put you on threadmill and give you a stress test now. I was uncomfortable at first b/c tech was a man, but I said to myself he has probably seen it all! LOL... So he and the dr are working together after the tech hooked me up and all. I made it all the way to 10 minutes (it was tough b/c it gets faster and tougher as the incline begins get higher and higher, I was at the point of jogging and mind you I was in jeans and sketcher flats and I was gonna wear boots that day! LOL.... (Nat, thanks for the tip when I have doctor's appts to always wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes!) :)
Anyway, then the tech tells me to get dressed and takes me to the cardiologist office so I can get the results. He says my heart rate is fine BUT one of my valves stays closed longer than normal, that is why at times I have hard time breathing. He says there is no cure, no pill no surgery to fix it, I just have to live with it and be careful b/c it happens more than I am under stress and around people who smoke. When he said this, I went back and recalled all the time I am stressed at work, and one of the partners smokes like a chimney (even though against the law to smoke inside building in Houston) and my chest begins to hurt, now it all makes sense. I thought it weird that when I went to the office and I was fine a couple of hours later I would get really sick (from smelling the smoke) I would get so sick I would have to go straight home and lie down, then after an hour I would be fine. After this realization my husband said, you have to turn in your resignation, this is your health that we are talking about, how much more is it going to take to get through your head it is time to go, it's either you leave or stay and something worse happens to you. (UPDATE: I turned in my resignation on Friday, January 25th. My last day at work will be Friday, February 8th, so I hanging in there and countdown has begun)! LOL...
Then the kicker was I go back up to my regular doctor to get results of my other tests and he says they are all good except for my cholesteral it is borderline but would like it to be lower b/c of all my other medical issues. So, I say doc I am eating right, exercising, etc. and I still have this problem. He said that my body is creating cholestral b/c I am NOT eating it! So I am screwed if I have it or not! :( So, he said to take plant based OMEGA 3 and then after a month of taking to back for more blood work. He also said that his nurse said, poor Mrs. Pearce she comes in for results and you send her to cardiologist! He told her that's just Mrs. Pearce she is used to it! Now, this doctor has seen me since I was in my early 20s so he has seen it all with me. He knows when I tell him something is wrong, something i really wrong.
It was weird b/c after I felt fine, I came home worked out and did cardio but Saturday when I woke up I felt terrible. I couldn't even get out of bed, it was AWFUL. I did manage to get out of bed to go to church and barely made it through that then came home and went to bed.
Found out reason I was feeling so sick was b/c I had the flu. Had it for about a week and a half now, this is a nasty thing to get over but dr's orders lots of rest and liquids.
So, there you have it my Spark buddies, that is the latest in the life Maria.
Miss you guys, hope to be back on Sparks regularly especially after my last day at work!
Hugs to you all.
