I've been Sparking for awhile now. When I started, I approached the program just as I had other weight loss programs, expecting fast, magical results. Instead, I have lost a few pounds, kept them off, but am still quite a distance from my goal weight. I have learned a lot about myself, my body, and the importance of movement and healthy fuel. I have enjoyed the interaction of Spark teams and friends. Yet it seems that somehow I have missed the mark, reaching the last "level" but still far from goal.
When I consider the positives though, I find that I'm no longer in the yo-yo mode. I may not be weighing less as fast as I'd like, but I'm not going up and down. I no longer try extreme diet plans from super market magazines that limit certain foods or limit calories to a starvation level. I have survived the loss of a long-time spouse to cancer, and routinely log 12-15,000 daily steps on ped, take care of my own snow shoveling and wood stocking, not too bad for my age (67).
So now my SP goals will not center any longer on achieving levels, but I will still enjoy racking up those points and exercise minutes. I will continue to utilize the food and exercise trackers, and hopefully my slow weight loss will continue. I did the math and at a pound a week could be at weight goal by July. Something to shoot for.
