My Game Changer..

Yesterday morning my leg was feeling a little better so I thought I would go for a good 3-4 mile walk (no running). Well...I guess with the few uphill climbs and me pushing my personal walking speed limit, I done aggravated this leg situation all over again.

It was made clear that I'm not giving my knee/leg enough time to heal so I've decided to stop focusing on the cardio as much and be more mindful of the nutrition part of this journey until this pain simmers down some. (I'm hoping with a little self care I can avoid the doctor..but we shall see)

I spent a large part of the day Googling non-cardio exercises or cardio without using or limiting knee bending and I think I'm going to be alright. Most importantly I will be staying within my calorie range.

I just have to keep in mind what my cousin posted on Facebook recently -

"Diet makes a BIG difference. You lose weight in the kitchen and get in shape in the gym."

    Oh I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your knee. Injuries are always so inconvienent. I hope you get better soon. I know lifting weights will help burn cals since you can't do cardio.

    I just sparked by to say..."IT DOES."
I reach out to alot of my friends who are on the ultra end of being fit about my own progress.
They tell me over and over 80% NUTRITION...20% fitness.
THAT is hard to believe. I am not sure if that's due to being programmed we have to kill ourselves physically to get in shape...OR if it is that it is some how easier for me to exercise than it is for me to consistently eat healthily. I believe it is a mixture of BOTH...speaking for myself.
I workout like a dog...a crazy horse but I dabble with eating right. I have good days and bad days. I am hear to tell you even 90m PER DAY for 5-7 days a week without fail WILL NOT yield progress UNLESS YOU EAT RIGHT.
People tell you it is hard to lose weight when you get to a certain weight...I haven't reached THAT WEIGHT YET but only when I am eating healthy does the weight fall off.
The men doesn't have to be all salads...but basic healthy natural clean foods.

Anyway...keep up the good work.
Take care of that leg. Girl...you don't want to reach all your goals and be hobbling. (just kidding)

Next month I have entered into a weight loss competition.
I am "going DEEP". Giving it ALL I GOT for 30 days. Gonna take it day by day. :)
It is forcing me to step up. Making me take a long look at MYSELF and WHAT I AM DOING along the journey.

  Hey Girl,

Leave that leg alone until your cleared to use it again. That's a lesson I learned the hard way about my ankle - smh @ myself.
I love what your cousin said, she's right - its soooooooooo true.

Feel better, it looks like your on your way finding another way to workout means alot, and working harder on the diet aspect means you'll still lose @ WINNING!!!

    Just a little info...when walking your knee feels around 2-3 times one’s body weight. Enthusiasm often pushes us to go faster. We try a level and if it feels good, we immediately move to the next level. It takes time for the muscular skeleton to get strong. Just a suggestion... take out the hills, don't worry about pushing your walking speed only keep walking. My knees get to me too, and I switch up my walks/trot with spinning. It gives me the cardio I need and my knees the movement needed and without the impact of my feet hitting pavement. I don't know if you wear a brace, but I do sometimes -- only sometimes because I think wearing it too much weakens the knee because of all the support it gives.

    Like your cousins quote, makes sense and sounds easy but I know it's now. But it is worth keeping a focus on. Take care of your leg/knees, I had the same issue but thankfully my leg is better but my knees still require TLC. You've got this and I hope those non-cardio exercises help keep you on track. Most importantly, be sure that you haven't caused a serious injury (if you got to go get it checked out please do.
