DH Surprised himself today. Another good day !. WooHoo.

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Thanks for the comments on Friend feed. I am no longer alone with that issue. I am able to get to it much easier but the page still says I am not recognized. make me feel like a no-body. I know it is just a glitch so I persevere and have had it working off and on all day.

My big news of the day was DH. He and I were watching a video and it had episodes. At the end of an episode DH paused and headed to the bathroom. I was not paying attention and I heard him come out of the bathroom and walked down the hall. He looked at me and said something is missing.

I looked and to me nothing was missing he put both arms out straight and said "LOOK NO WALKER" I was elated and said good for you.
He said, "GOOD FOR MY BAD MEMORY" and laughed.

I went to the bedroom and brought out his cane. We adjusted it and for the rest of the day he has been walking with the cane instead of the walker.

We are hoping there is a light at the end of the tunnel. He is still experiencing some pain but he does not complain.

I made up 4 pounds of chicken breasts. I roasted them in the oven to a nice golden brown. Then I put 3 single pounds in the freezer and made chicken stew with the fourth pound. I added lots of vegetables, no potatoes in case I want to freeze it. DH had very little appetite so there are more leftovers. If not used tomorrow it goes in the freezer for a few days.
While I baked the chicken breast I put in a Crust less Spinach Quiche and I added 4 pieces of Canadian bacon, cut small on the bottom. I use 3 egg whites and 2 whole eggs and and 2 cups of Shredded Mexican style cheese. We have 1/4 each and afterwards DH had a fruit cup and I had an apple. it always keeps us satisfied and I love it I have the other half for breakfast or lunch tomorrow.

A good day and still no snow in my little corner of the World.
Good night spark friends. Pat in Maine.

This makes me SO happy, Pat! Your DH has been ill through no fault of his own, mine has been ill through his own fault, but both are getting better!!

By the way, you're still my friend on SP. Of course! emoticon

Well YOU are not invisible. I find when my stress levels are high that little things can really throw me for a loop. At the end of my better day yesterday my DD sat me down and told me she is worried about me. The exercising is OK and the food is OK but I am obsessed with the scale. ???? I am so close to onederland and it is eluding me. I don't feel obsessed. However she does not feel weighing myself weekly is healthy. The number does not matter. I tried to explain to her that although the number is not important for who I am it does matter for a)keeping ahead of the diabetes and b)my knee replacement lasting as long as possible. In the long run a lower weight should put me at lower risk for heart disease and other diseases that are stressed by a larger size body. But she disagreed. I went to my DH last night and told him her concerns and he AGREED with her. I felt like a whole support system got pulled out from undeer me. Of course that is not what has happened. I know I gave up losing weight years ago because I could not budge the scale... but it has moved, slowly every year since I started Spark People. I also know right now I have drive and am "working harder" at it with the Biggest Loser Challenge. But oh my, with all the stressors in my life right now this "small puncture" in my momentum feels very scary. If I stop will I be able to keep going? I wanted to blog this but DD sometimes reads my blogs and I don't want to upset her when she is trying to be helpful. Sigh.... I KNOW how it felt to be invisible for a bit.

Great job Fred, who cares if it started with forgetfulness-if he had really needed it, he would have gone back or called you to help. YA for progress. Your crustless spinach quiche sounds good.

Wow, Fred is progressing quite well, that's wonderful news! The narrative you write about your cooking is mouth-watering, often makes me want to try something different that you have mentioned....now it's quiche, lol! It's still cold outside, no wind at the moment so I've brought in some wood for the stove while there's less chance of having breathing issues. Messy weather might be on the way though. Have a good day! emoticon

What a wonderful surprise! If he is that confident to walk on her own than he is doing well!!

Hats off to you for doing all your cooking ahead of time. It makes making meals later so much easier. Wish I could say that I do that all the time too.

Glad you haven't had the snow yet, my sisters in the midwest were all housebound at they had a day of freezing rain and that will be followed up by snow tonight. Hope that doesn't come your way!!
