What a wonderful day

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Today was a long and busy day but VERY REWARDING...on the personal front on the quest to find out what the gas issues were caused by, I have ruled out legumes ( beans) we had chilli today for lunch, and it wasn't onion, ( I presume there was onion in the chilli) so my suspicion is that it was the NUTS! Sigh! ( and I love nuts!)

I have heard that soaking them for hours before consuming makes them easier to digest, but where is the fun in that! no crunch...I am not going to try them until after the FINAL weigh in of the 30 Day Challenge!

Thanks to those who have done their homework in letting me know what and how they plan to move forward with life after the 30 Day Challenge!

I am soooo excited about the day I have had. Today I met some ladies from a local women's shelter who shared their stories with us at our service this morning and after sharing my story of being a recovered sugar addict, I have been asked to come and share with the ladies about it and possibly consult with those who prepare the food for these ladies. You see they are all recovering addicts, substance or alcohol abuse and my concern is that they swop one addiction for another ( sugar ) and I was reading an article on the web about a disturbing thing where alcoholics are encouraged to eat candy instead of drinking....What? This was in an article I read ( Not at the women's shelter)
So I am very concerned that the nutrition for these ladies is not counter productive.
Apparently it takes 4 - 5 months for their bodies to get back into regular eating and sleeping patterns after kicking their habits! So ladies, don't feel bad if you have trouble keeping up with a mere 30 Day challenge! Anyway I am excited and honored to be asked to come and share and very humbled! WOW! I have been seeking for something meaningful like this to do and I hope I have found it!

For those that asked about my article from the other day, I will get the pdf tomorrow ( I hope) and I will send it to you!

I am not preparing the notebook for my seminar which I have to sent to the printer TONIGHT! SO I have to end off now but PLEASE post your DAY 28 stats here....yes that's MONDAY!!

Today I took that wheat free, sugar free, dairy free cake to the function and a family there were so excited. Their kids have many allergies and can't eat gluten, dairy etc.
Both parents are doctors and they are so excited that I made a dessert that their kids could at without worrying about an allergic reaction!

I guess I will have to post that recipe if I don't forget what I did.

Good night all, I have a few hours work ahead of me, so I have to cut this short!

HAPPY LAST 3 days of the challenge and remember WEIGH IN AND MEASURE DAY is on the 30th day!

It's great when you can do something nice for somebody and not have a bad reaction -- I'd never eat food prepared by somebody else at a function, though. It's too risky. I don't just feel bad, I have a food-poisoning reaction with full-blown fever, swollen joints, gastric issues, including nausea...whatever is the worst thing, it's in there and it's for days. I've learned to just not partake (or take my own and ONLY eat it).

Even my mother has cross-contaminated me, making gluten-free food (it's in her kitchen, which isn't). I've been cc'd at a gluten-free friendly resto (they have a gluten-free prep area but all it takes is a spoon stirring 2 things).

Glad that you are managing to eliminate causes - and that you had such an interesting day

28th day of being hard cheese free - must admit to craving some after I had half an Avo - old habits die hard - but, since there's none in the house, it was a breeze to get past that.

Tuna Fish Cakes with sweet potato went down a treat tonight - both students were looking for more ... me too :0

Beans are full of potential problems.
