CrossFit Filled Weekend

I had SUCH a fun day yesterday. It all started at 10AM open gym. I did back squat triples, push press triples, and parallel bar dips. My own mini-strength class! One of my best friends from the gym, along with a bunch of other coaches and members, was participating in a CF team competition. A bunch of us were planning on going over there to cheer her on and I ended up carpooling with someone after open gym. I wasn't planning on staying til the end, but it was so much fun to watch and there were a ton of people from our gym there hanging out. I ended up getting to see WODs 3, 4, and 5. Our gym pretty much dominated the competition too. We had members competing on 7 different teams (each team was 1 male + 1 female) and all but one made it to the final WOD (the top 8 teams from each division). We had 5 teams in the Rx division, and placed in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th. The two teams in the Scaled divisons got 3rd and 7th places.

Afterwards, a bunch of us went out to dinner at everyone's favorite Paleo friendly restaurant and then to the Red Bull Crashed Ice event in downtown St. Paul. I spent 12 hours straight with my CF friends and we didn't run out of things to talk about once. I love my gym so much!

Today I headed in for what I thought was going to be a series of 2 minute AMRAPs, but instead was switched to the final WOD of the competition yesterday:

800m sandbag run
15 overhead squats
15 bar facing burpees
15 toes to bar
15 cleans
15 backsquats
800m sandbag run

You had to do the run with your partner and could trade off on who carried the sandbag. Then partner one would do 15 overhead squats, then rested while partner 2 did their overhead squats. You were supposed to use the same bar for all the movements, but we used a lighter one for OHS. I went a little lighter than I might have otherwise because of my partner, but I had no complaints. It was still a great workout! We did 35# for the overhead squats and 53# for everything else (and knees to elbows instead of TTB). Rx for women was 93# (The scaled division yesterday used 65#, which I could've done for everything except maybe OHS. Not sure my max on those, it's been forever since I attempted one).

    Nicely done. I had a crossfit filled weekend too (getting ready to blog!) Love that you are loving your box and your teammates.
