So, today has been a good one. My boyfriend stayed over last night, which I always enjoy. Even though he doesn't sleep as well with someone else in the bed, I sleep much better. There are a lot of things about him, or he and I, that are dichotomous. For instance, he's both my greatest motivator and greatest draw-back when it comes to health, too. He's a bit of a gym junkie and full of advice and motivation, and makes a great training partner. He's also constantly rewarding us with junk food and sweets, which really doesn't help! Still, more good than harm.
Today I started the day with a pancake (semi-skimmed milk, oat bran) and eggs, then he set some new hight scores on the Wii Fit for me to hit. We drove into town (which is about a mile away) and did some shopping, and he offered to get me a coffee. Thinking it was just basically an iced coffee I ordered a "chillccino" or something like that; turns out it's actually 1200 calories of whipped cream and iced cream! Ah well; it's not like I make a habit of it, and it was a lovely treat. I also found a HUGE mug, that I just had to have, and a green jacket, both in a charity shop. The mug is horrible if I want to watch my portion sizes, but then I think; I'm only having tea and coffee in it, and the truth is I don't drink much of either, maybe one or two a day. Not perfect, but not terrible either. The jacket fits, but is a bit too tight to do up (it fastens, but I bulge a bit). It will look better on me when I've lost a few lbs and I've decided that the jacket will be my new goal; I want to look fabulous in it, and be able to do it up without lookling like a badly stuffed sausage. I can wear it (and did, today) and it looks good, but when I look a few lbs it will look perfect.
I'm also getting tired of seeing all these lovely clothes in the charity shops and not being able to buy them. I found another jacket today that is JUST the style I love and the perfect colour for me, but it was a size 10 (I'm a size 16-18 in jackets, MAYBE a size 14, or a size 12 if it's a really generous cardigan, but never a size 10) and I almost cried at having to leave it. Size 8-12 clothes don't move as fast in second hand shops, I guess because most of the customers are older and so either not interested in the fashion or sitting around the 14-18 sizes. Either way, I want those gorgeous clothes.
We (my son and I) walked home by the lake. That 1 mile took about 30 minutes to do, since he's only little with his little legs, so when I got home I sat him down with the games on my mobile phone and played on the Wii fit. I decided on a whim to do every single thing I could on there; every yoga pose, every strength exercise, every aerobics exercise, and every balance game. I discovered that since they're in that order, it makes a good work-out; the yoga stretches and warms you, the strengh exercises tone and strengthen the muscles, the aerobics does what it says on the tin, and the balance games are a great cool-down, even if they are a bit harder once you've been panting and shaking from exertion! The whole thing took me about 90 minutes, and I felt great (if REALLY hungry!) afterwards.
Then I started making some cake-bread. Basically, you take a bread recipe (in this case, wholemeal bread with nuts and fruit) and make it up but to the consistency of cake/muffin batter with a couple of eggs and some baking powder. Leave it to rise for about 30 minutes, then bake it. Mine's still cooking now, but it smells awesome! I'm going to have a couple this evening (they're only little muffin-type things) and do some dancing...something energetic, I think. I have a new bellydance DVD I've not tried yet, but I don't know if I fancy it tonight. Still, bellydance IS a good work-out...I guess we'll see. I've got some Yoga/Pilates workouts on the computer I've never done, too, and about 50 websites with assorted workouts for free. I dislike most of the SP vid's as, last time I checked, they're all just little clips of how to do the exercises; I like something I can work alongside! But it's probably changed since I was here last...it's been a while. Anyways, that's ok, I'm spoilt for choice here! I also got down my fitness box (I needed the yoga mat for the Wii) and found a stability ball, 1lb hand weights and resistance bands, all of which I'd forgotten I owned!
Anyways, the silence from upstairs says Jr is asleep, so I'm off to do another workout and a little housework. TTFN!
