Floods in Queensland - Australia - ...................a
gain!!

Sunday, January 27, 2013

For those of you interested in the situation here these photos show the extent of the problem - and the latest news is that the rivers in Bundaberg, Maryborough and Brisbane area will peek tomorrow - so the worse is yet to come
Estimates are that it will be worse than 2011 - and I am sure you remember that that was devastating!!

Its a gallery of pictures - there are about 100 pictures and more are added as they come in

The waether system has gone south and is now causing trouble in Northern New South Wales - and will continue to cause havoc right down to Sydney over the next day or so, from what has been forecast!!

Myself - we are fine here - we are away a bit from both coast and rivers - we could be cut off for a few days but we have a stocked pantry - we came through the wind and rain, frightened but ok - the house stood up well and though we have palm fronds and a couple of branches down we had no damage -
We are the lucky ones.
My main problem is that the main telephone system is affected and both our phone, mobile phone and internet are erratic - but that's a small price to pay!!

Glad to hear you are safe, Ann. Hope you don't get cut off, or for too long if so...take care - thinking of all the folks and animals affected by all this wet weather.

Ann: I'm so glad you are safe, we in Oklahoma know how awlful those tornadoes can be. The pictures are horrific. I really would like to take some of all that water and put it to good use here in Oklahoma, we are really dry.

Stay safe and dry: CJ from OK. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

those pictures are truly horrific.....but we all know what nature can do when its fury is unleashed. I do have a question, though.....it said that it was a mini-tornado at Bargara.........my word, if that was a mini-tornado....I hate to think what havoc a full size tornado would wreak......I mean there was some pretty massive damage.

Glad to hear you are safe. We are too (I live just north of Bne) though we are aware of the thousands affected badly by the floods and rain. our power and phones were out for 13 hrs but are back on now. Hope yours comes back soon too. They are working on it, I know. Tonight it such a change - no rain or banging because of the violent, howling winds! It's almost surreal!

Take care and stay safe. emoticon

I am so glad that you are safe Ann. I have been watching the news. They don't show it much here on American television, but since Paul is from Wales we watch the BBC news regularly and they have been televising the devastation there. I am so sorry that your beautiful country is being ravaged so. I hope that everyone will be alright in the end. Love ya, Dawn emoticon

Glad you are safe and okay. Right now in Minnesota in the US it is snowing big fluffy flakes. Looks lovely, but will hide any icy spots on the side roads and walks.

Gosh this is just terrible! I have a friend in Brisbane so hope you are all ok. The damage is devastating, and the work involved in clean up, not to mention the risk to lives. You have really had a terrible time with the bush fires down south too. I hope things improve quickly.

The weather is crazy isn't it? At Christmas we had snow down south here, and the week before the temps had been 30 C Plus! And we could really do with some rain!
