A.D.D. Blog – Weight, Polar Plunge, Less Sparking

Sunday, January 27, 2013

WEIGHT:

OK. I’m not weighing in “officially” (i.e., reporting on weigh-in threads with two of my teams, and recording on Sparkpeople) until February 5. Yet, I am going to be weighing myself every day. Sound crazy? Yep. I know. I just cannot bear to see a backslide instead of progress, be it on paper or even digitally. Am I deluding myself? Um, I like to think of it as protecting myself from a depressing downward spiral .This should be the KITA I need to get back down and then some…and that’s all I have to say about THAT. emoticon

POLAR PLUNGE:

I went with coworkers to the Polar Plunge yesterday to raise money for the Special Olympics. My Fitbit clocked in plenty of walking (over 6 miles) and it was really, really COLD so I hope that burned some calories! I did not plunge, but I did have a nice time. I was really enjoying listening to the “Amish Outlaws” and having a beer, but the hubby could not handle the loud music so we ending up having to leave early. Too bad, because I was really enjoying hanging with the team outside of work. Next year I will leave the old ball and chain at home. Ha haha ha!

Here is a pic with an adorable donkey that was at the Plungefest:

LESS SPARKING = More Sleep and More Exercise

I have concluded that I need to “Spark less and move more”. Please do not take offense if I am unable to check in with all of you on a regular basis. I really do appreciate all of you and I am rooting for you even if I do not have time to check in regularly. I work a lot and have a long commute and could no longer justify getting up an hour earlier to spark and feeling exhausted all day. The way I see it, if I have limited time I need to be making better use of it in reaching my goals. In other words, if I have time to spark an hour a day, I really should be exercising an hour a day instead. Make sense?

Off to get in some walking emoticon and get some veggies emoticon to make veggie soup for the week.

I totally support you in the less Sparking dept. I feel guilty that I can't keep on top of blogs on a regular basis but we have to keep our eye on the prize. Just know that I'm still out there supporting you just as I know you are there for me. Thanks for the nice comments on my last blog. I just read them.

I TOTALLY get the move more, Spark less. I had to do that as well a while ago, and I did feel guilty. But I was spending too much time on the computer! Good for you for making a change like that. We still love you. :)

Well well well...Lol.....I'm back my friend and I couldn't agree with you more I also feel the same way if I have extra time outside of taking care of our home it would be better spent getting some form of exercise not sitting on the computer.
I love to support people also and I do think that can be done on a once a week basis.
I do track my food everyday too but reading blogs & supporting will be once a week.
Since I just got back from our week long trip I will be doing the same weighing in Sun Feb 3rd and posting my monthly blog with Januarys progress.
I love the picture with the donkey but it sure looks cold out there!
You got a good emoticon outta me when reading the ball & chain part.
emoticon Here's to our continued success my friend emoticon emoticon

I absolutely understand! I am doing the same thing! Less Sparking, socially (I DO track everythig, still!) AND more exercise! I think all the Sparkers understand this! You rock for realizing this, too!

Love you, see you on the flip side!

It's all about choices and balance and finding what you need to succeed. Sounds like you had a great time at your plunge event. I would be in the same boat with liking the music and putting earplugs on DH
Best Wishes
Kathy

I totally agree with you and the Sparking. It is so funny that this great site that helps you with weight loss can also make you spend so much time sitting down lol. Sad I won't see you on as often, but glad you are keeping up with it!!
