Oatmeal is my new favorite. Steel cut. No more highly processed oats for me. Oh, my, are they good. I like them a little bit soft, with some milk and maybe, if I have been very, very, good, some Damara sugar on the small bowl of oatmeal. It feels like love. Good stuff.
We were introduced to this kind of oatmeal at Laurel Inn, a B&B in the Hocking Hills of Ohio. We were served about 1/8 cup of this stuff. Loved it, had no idea what it was, so we asked. They brought out the label for the product, and I have purchased it many, many times over.
Yes, it takes some time to make it, but sitting in line at the fast-food joint takes nearly the same time, and NEVER, well, maybe at one place where we used to get breakfast croissants with ham and cheese (YUM), have I had a better breakfast food. I think I will put some walnuts or dried cranberries in it the next time I have this oatmeal. Pure heaven.
