Keep on keeping on

Sunday, January 27, 2013

I've always thought of myself as a positive person ... looking for the best in any situation or person ... but I apparently don't/haven't had the same mindset with myself. I read the motivational articles and watch the videos but there seems to be a big ugly block in my brain when it comes to feeling it within myself. I'm working on more positive self-talk along with re-reading the articles/blogs so am going to keep on keeping on until I get it right!

I can certainly relate to your situation.

I have always been an over-achiever . . . .give me a TO DO list, and I'll get it done.
But when it comes to self-care, I just don't take time to do it. I am overly critical of myself and usually put myself at the end of the list . . . .which means "I" don't get 'done'.

That's one of the reasons I've taken a sabbatical from SparkPeople. Not that I want to splurge or anything . . . I just want to see how much of the the daily TO DO list is really making it's way into my brain and into my life, rather than being a quest for the points or whatever.

It's taken a couple of days, but I am definitely liking the direction and progress I'm making into really taking care of ME. After all, that's what this journey is all about.

I'm working on developing a process or routine to ensure that I get some quality time with myself each day which includes dialing the world OUT and giving myself a 5 minute NON INTERRUPTED pep talk.

That's just where I'm at..... You can find out what works for you. Make copious notes and revisit them. Do whatever it takes to OWN it and make it happen for you. You are worth it.

Look in the mirror each morning and tell yourself that you are beautiful and you are special. Soon you will believe it. What comes out of the mouth is in the heart.
