Struggles

Sunday, January 27, 2013

I have been struggling since August with a variety of issues. Lack of motivation ( I need to set some new goals now that I have completed my first 5K race), Illness (The whole family needs strengthened immune systems), Fear (Running in the dark especially in winter snow and ice conditions scares the crap out of me), Weather (Hell the thought of running in the light of day in the cold Canadian winter climate scares me and I have not been able to find suitable winter wear for my short 5'4 body yet) and Timing (When I can run I put it off but after my child is asleep at night I find myself wishing I had a partner so I could go for a run) PLUS I still need to get a TON of household organization done so shouldn't I be putting my time to use there?

Thanks to an amazing relative who made a generous financing deal with me I was able to buy one of these

Now in the evening I can head down to the basement and jump on walking/jogging/running my way towards my goals. I still plan on hitting my cities trails as much as possible/I dare but with my new electronic friend I can stop sitting on the couch wishing I could be moving in the evening.

-Now I need to set some goals.
------I have some in mind but I need to get them out of my head and written down and held accountable for them.

-Work on the immune system
------(I got a knock me on my ass cold and missed out on most of my planed workouts this week ;) ) But being more frequently active should help with that.

-Fear
------I did get out for a run a few weeks ago on a nice warm chinook day but then a winter storm hit town and I went back into hiding.

-Equipment
------No luck yet finding winter running wear that is not so long I am not tripping on the legs but I did find out Lululemon does free hemming so I am now working on budgeting for some pants :)

-Timing
------Not an issue anymore I just head to the basement and get moving

I found a PLUS too in order to fit my new purchase in its new home my basement got a new (temporary) organization makeover. I will still be severely minimizing what we have in storage and rehoming the vast majority of it all.

I have started taking it in baby steps again instead of stressing over the big picture.

Sounds like with the changes you are making a healthier you will be the reward so that's one off the list. Keep up the good work and remember give yourself the credit you deserve for all the changes you are making. emoticon
