So I am thinking about moving my first race from June to March, there is a 5k at Seattle Center and you get hot chocolate and a hoodie! I have a couple friends that would run with me. I decided to see if I could even manage the distance today as I have only ran 2 miles at most since surgery, I ran the fun 3.1 without stopping, of course I managed to find a killer hill and my knees were a tad whiny, but overall I did fine. I finished at 42:28 about a minute slower than my original race time and 7 minutes slower than my PR. It is well within the 15 min/mile pace requirement, but if I had a knee issue I could be in trouble. I want to do it partly to get back out there and get a race under my belt and go back to training and show myself and I can still do this, and part of me wants to keep recovering- but I am afraid if I do that I will always use that as an excuse and I know that I could finish a 5k right now.
