On my walk to day I thought about the bike I want. I have two in mind- a regular bike or a tricycle. Both have pros and cons. These include storage and transportation, safety, ect, ect.
After my walk I looked at bikes at Target. They have a blue one that reminds me of my 1st bike. Standing there looking at it I just had so many fond memories of my grandparents buying my blue bike with a banana seat, riding around my yard and even crashing into a plum tree. The freedom of riding. I would have bought that baby on the spot!
I delayed gratification-EVEN though it was assembled and ready to go, Even though several accessories were on clearance, EVEN though I had a vehicle that would get it home...

There are reasons why I walked away..
1-when I get this bike I want it to be EXACTLY what I want color and style wise
2-I want to research what will be best for me
3- I want to have all the transportation (to bike tracks) and storage planned.
4-I want this to be something that I will use and enjoy-not clutter to replace what I have DECLUTTERED with Flylady
5- I want it to be a reward for accomplishing my goals.

My sweetie and I went to lunch across the street and discussed the bike vs. tricycle thing. He made some good points for the tricycle...
safety being 1st. I have had open heart surgery and take blood thinners so it is important to avoid cuts and bruises--like one might get from falling off a regular bike :)
He pointed out that I have balance isuues--SOOO true!
And he helped me sort out the storage issue-we can use the back patio where it would be out of the elements.
There is still the issue of transporting it. I want to be able to get this thing to the bike trails nearby-and maybe even take it on trips. We would either have to install a trailer hitch AND bike rack or be able to fit INSIDE the SUV. I doubt that last part would work AT ALL!

So, I am feeling good about the trike. Balance is a HUGE issue, mostly I don't want him to worry about me, oh yeah and I am terrified of falling LOL.

I'm excited about the prospect of doing this! But cautious too, as I can be flighty :)

I like the red scwinn-- maybe I would call her RUBY.
Or the blue--Blue Belle? Betty? The BEAST?

I honestly never even thought of a bike as a reward for myself. Thanks for the idea.

I think ruby is perfect for the red one. when you mentioned Beast as the name for the blue one I chuckled to my self. we use to have a blue car named the beast. Then the second thought was of the x- men movie character named Beast played by Kelsie grammer.

I'm back. SP with blogs about her tricycle is JWADDELL2

BELOVED or BEAUTY sounds more positive than BEAST.

Tricycle sounds like the best fit for you. Wonder if they make a collapsible model like they do with some bicycles. I've seen blogs by another SP who has and loves her tricycle.
