The Car is Packed, Almost Ready to Go
Sunday, January 27, 2013
The weather sprites smiled, brought out the sun and melted all the ice.
That was amazing to hear all the dripping this morning. I thought it was raining, but there wasn't a cloud in the sky. So I took advantage of safe steps and got everything I could pack and load before the morning before something else happened.
I need to winterize. Lowes was out of RV antifreeze. I can't use regular antifreeze because of the septic system. I wonder if I could get the same effect from road salt or that frost proof window washing fluid. I don't want bathroom pipes bursting while I'm away. I've already had enough water damage to deal with!!
The car is full except for the last minute food and a doubled bag of trash. Nowhere to drop it off on Sunday, but that won't stop me.
Sometime soon I'll need to figure out which is the lesser of 2 evils for the trip--Brasstown Bald to Macon then home 75, missing Atlanta. 12 hours minimum.
Or head right into the Atlanta storm and go bravely where many others have gone before. 10 hours minimum if Atlanta is kind and accidents don't slow everybody down ahead of me to 15 miles an hour all the way through Georgia. Has taken 15.
I am sorry I will miss spring here. but I have seen it 3 other times. I think I'll be going from winter to summer in one day when I get back to Florida.
Don't know when that will happen, but it's always a surprise to jump from highs of 30 to highs of 80 in just a day with no warning. (Fahrenheit temperature)
Kind of like when the scale sits stoic for 3 weeks and then all of a sudden it's down 2.5 pounds. You get off, check to make sure your glasses are on your eyes, and get back on just to make sure. I must say that surprise is much more welcome than skipping spring and jumping to summer!
