Itchy Feet

Saturday, January 26, 2013

After an emotionally draining and overall stressful week I was very much looking forward to my Saturday hike - my entire being was itching to get out there and hike.

Well, it's been raining here off and on since Thursday, and I saw hikes being cancelled left and right. Had to wait until Friday night to finally receive confirmation that my hike would be on. I'm happy that there are still people out there who are not afraid of a little bit of rain.

Showers were in the forecast for today, but only up until 9:00 am.

Well, haha! We hiked in the fog and rain pretty much all the way until noon. Dirt road turning into mud. Us getting wetter and dirtier by the minute. Lunch was at the top of our mountain peak, standing in the rain, inhaling our sandwiches.

And guess what? I enjoyed every minute of my hike. It was awesome! Definitely one of those hikes you'll never forget.

Surprised a herd of cattle.

Little twig in the rain (I love this picture).

An entire hill full of prickly pear.

The muddy boots picture.

This is what it's all about.

Well, still got itchy feet... My boots are clean and almost dry... I'll be hiking again tomorrow.

For some reason when I read "Itchy Feet" I thought about an itchy palm meaning money is coming. Guess itchy feet mean health and happiness is coming!

Awe, I love the little twig also.

Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

I can't climb steep grades anymore because
    of my feet.

Glad you got out - all of my hikes were cancelled too - I personally don't mind hiking or walking in the rain but I don't like the damage it does to the trails and areas around the trails if/when people try to go around puddles or slippery areas - that's why so many trails are closed during muddy conditions. As long as the hikers understand they can be damaging the trail and make sure they step carefully to avoid that, also make sure they stay ON the trail and don't try to 'walk around' the puddles or muddy sections, it's fine with me but I usually try to stick with paved, rocky, sandy or decomposed granite trails until things dry out.

Hope you have another good one!!

I love your pictures! We've had a lot of family business to take care of out of state so haven't been able to hike. I've got itchy feet too!!!!! Love your pics, and glad your hiking buddies don't mind the rain.

That view and the success of reaching the peak is what it is all about. You go girl. I know you have missed your weekend hikes and I for one am glad you got to head out and a little rain never hurt anyone. lol.

It does look like a fantastic hike! I loved the fog too. But I am guilty of not enjoying hiking in the rain!!! I don't see the countryside well when it rains, and I don't want to damage my camera. I realize I don't hike mainly because I enjoy walking, but because I enjoy discovering new countrysides!!!

Hey, good for you. And I totally agree, a little rain or even a lot of rain if you're prepared shouldn't stop us from getting out there. Loved the pictures.
