DOWNSIZING

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Today I called some friends emoticon and asked them for help. They used to help another friend of mine who moved away.

They are fast workers emoticon and soon we separated all of my cassettes which I never listen to any more, all of my VHS's (?) and all of my records and they hauled them all off to a garage sale their church was having right then. What timing. I sat in a chair most of the time showing them what to do.

This evening I put some things in one of my bathrooms as they won't do anything there when they lay the carpet. Putting things there that I want to know where I can find them when they bring my stuff back.

Went to the border of Mexico this morning and got my hair done this afternoon so I feel like it has been a prosperous day.

Sunday, of course, I will go to church and Monday the movers come to take the stuff to storage and Tuesday the carpet will be laid. If all goes as they promise stuff comes back Wednesday and then I have the same emoticon (man and woman) come to put it back. Sounds like a plan.

I still plan to downsize on books and magazines but we didn't have time today and they didn't have room in their car. Ladies and Gentlemen I AM DOWNSIZING, and I don't mean maybe. I feel better already. Why keep the stuff if I don't use it. I had 45 records 78 and the latest. I use cd,s and dvd,s now.

The end of the week the emoticon should be done, the rental turned in and I will be a happy little emoticon ha ha. Not me but all the people who helped me.

Today I received another check from my insurance company. I don't know why but I'm sure not going to call them to complain.

This is from the gal who might have knee replacement after all the 9th. If I am not ready I will just delay it some as they said I could. I want to come home to a stress free house.

Irene

Way to go IRene, downsizing is so important, we forget all the Stuff we have.
Most things we forgot we had, cause its been so long.
It will be nice to have room in your closets and drawers to be rid of it.

emoticon I am doing the same thing. The process is slow for me as I can only do it on the weekend but it feels good to see more and more room in whatever area I'm working on. I'm also doing the same thing at work as I hope to retire soon and I don't want to have a big clean up to do.

emoticon and I know all will go well with your surgery - emoticon

You sound so good, Irene! Everything is coming together. I am so glad.

As for downsizing, I have started doing the same. I got to thinking, if I had to move, for some reason, this would be an overwhelming job, if left to then.

Going through the music, too. I do still listen to some of my favorite records, but many I do not. Hoping to make a little money at one of the local record shops.

Continue having a good week, Irene.
Thank you for stopping by my blog! emoticon

Congratulations on downsizing!! Get rid of throw rugs that are absolutely not necessary too .... which is best for avoiding falls. I got rid of several of them on my cement floors so that they don't trip me up. The floors look somewhat bare but I MUST avoid falling since having broken my knee and having a knee replacement. Nice you're getting new carpet.

Irene, you are really an inspiration. 37 years ago I downsized from a three bedroom house to a one bedroom condo. And now after 37 years in the condo I can't believe how much stuff I have accumulated. Time to do as you are doing and downsize again. Hope your sugery will remain on schedule.

Downsizing does feel good. When I moved about a year and a half ago, I downsized considerably since I was selling a 4 BR house and moving to one BR and a living area with bath. At least my daughter lives upstairs and of course, she has more room than me since my part is slightly less than half the basement.

I think we all need to downsize occasionally .. as we tend to keep things we may, or may not need ...
You are a lucky lady to get so much done for you ...
I also think you are very special too.

You did GOOD! Irene. Getting rid of unused things in our lives - gets rid of clutter.
    Clutter causes stress.
emoticon You are well on your way to getting your knee done and becoming pain free also-at least in one knee.
    So happy for you.
I also have some drawers that are calling me to organize too. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Hugs, pat

You've sure inspired me to downsize my 'things' Irene! So much 'stuff' in my house, hubby and I are both pack rats and keep everything!
I'm so happy for you, to have friends help and to be getting ready for all that's planned to be done! I think you'll be all set to keep your knee surgery appt without delaying it!

I agree, why keep something if you are not using it..instead give it to someone that can.

Doesn't it feel good to get rid of things you no longer use? I always imagine my things going to someone who really loves and enjoys them.

Have a great weekend Irene and good luck on your knee replacement.
