Weekend Eating

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Weekends are REALLY hard for me. I always do really well during the week staying on my food 'plan' however, as soon as Friday night hits the feasting begins.
I don't know why but this overwhelming urge to eat eat eat finds its why into my head and I listen. Its foods that during the week I don't eat, not because I am restricting them but because I don't want them.
These aren't binges just consent eating and grazing through the day on foods that are higher calories and NOT fruit or veggies.
I have no idea why I am doing this. Is it the stress leaving me after the week? Is it the lack of structure? or Is it because I have something sweet for breakfast?
I don't know the reason but if anyone has any insight, I would love to here it. These weekends are sabotaging me.

Are you following the McDougall plan. You know then that as long as there is no added fat, have all the starch you want.

Read Dr. McDougall on diabetes and starch. See him on youtube. Get off the guilt wagon.Eat more. Lose weight.

    I like Marcy's suggestions too.

One I might add is to journal about your feelings. Ask yourself those same questions in writing and then spend some time answering them and see if you get an AHA moment.

For me, having the days eating plan mapped out, in writing on the frig, so I can go and see WHAT'S NEXT, helps me a lot.

Good luck, Let us know how this goes in a follow up blog. Lots of Sparks deal with this same problem.

You might even do a Spark search - Binge eating on the weekends.

I'm anxious to see what you find out.

yes, it could be any of the above

It might be all of the above. Try a different approach each weekend to see if you can narrow it down. For the grazing - keep fruit and viggies on the counter for the day so that they are readily availble. Stash anything else in a cupboard so that you have to make a conscious deciosn to get it and eat it.
Sturcture - Plan out your meals for the day over breakfast and find something to do between meal time that is out of the kitchen.
Try a savory brakfast like an omlette with a piece of fruit to see if that helps.
Keep trying - you'll get there. It might take several weekends to fnd the exact cause of the grazing and constant eating, but once you find it you will be able to work around it.
