Another challenge met.
The challenge in the spark coack program yesterday was to get outdoors for at least 10 minutes.
I was pleased that particular challenge didn't come earlier in the week because I wouldn't have met it. Temperatures over the first few days of this week were -18C to -26C so I was inside looking out for the most part. But when this challenge came up yesterday I said I am doing this one.
Today it is a balmy -6C with about 6 inches of fluffy white snow covering most of the wood trails that I use so my three canine companions and I enjoyed 30 minutes outdoors.
I enjoyed glancing at the various rabbit trails until the beagle/lab mix named Abigail came on the scene and oblitered those footprints with her own paws and nose marks as she followed the unseen hints left behind by Mr. Bunny.
We came across some frozen ponds that quickly became a skating rink for my old lab mix friend whom I call Jackie. Although I called her name several times she kept slipping and sliding until she figured out it was much easier walking through the snow than on that glassy surface.
The walk would not have been complete without my youngest pal, a Black lab aptly named Licorice, finding as many mice burrows as she could. Her shiny black coat was such a contrast to the virgin white snow that she couldn't hide from me even in the densest thickets.
She came across a few trails under the snow and I watched her nose disappear as she snuffled through the drifts, her big body wriggling in glee.
It indeed was a great walk in the woods with the sounds and sights of nature all around. I am looking forward to getting out again tomorrow to see what new and exciting scents and trails await my dogs and I.
When I got back to my house looked up and there were my two cats watching out the window and waiting for my return. What a wonderful walk it was today.
Thanks Spark Guy Chris for putiing this challenge out just at the right time to get me outdoors again to enjoy every beautiful foot of my woodland trail.
