Portion control & feeling hunger on WW.

Rearranging my thinking...
Homemade oatmeal tastes good with ONLY 1 tablespoon of real maple syrup.
Morning coffee can be enhanced with 3 T almond milk & 2 t honey rather than Coffee-Mate "creamer".
I can have dessert, just in smaller amounts.

Since joining Weight Watchers last Sunday, I've lost 1.2 pounds! But I could've done better. I went over my daily point allowance every day, and even used up all my extra "flex" points too. Meaning, I overeat. There, I said it.

I'm what you call a hungry girl. Whether it's stress, sleep-deprivation, anger or boredom, I like food. Even real hunger slips in there now & again.

And it did just that this first week. I DID get real life hunger pains in between meals. I realize that prior to joining WW, I haven't allowed myself to feel hunger ever. Usually I eat whenever I want to. And we might all be able to confess that, because in America, many people have access to food as they please.

My goal this coming week is stay on point. The personal allotment happens to be 30 points a day, with 40-something extra points to use up throughout a 7-day week. If I can do this, weight-loss will come easily.

TIPS FROM THE EXPERT:
According to the WW lady who weighed me in this weekend, I should not need to feel so hungry. If I choose the right filling foods, called "power foods", I should stay satisfied longer. For all you whole food & clean dieters: most power foods fall in to that category. Second tip: don't skip snacks. Have an apple and 23 almonds, or a cheese stick & a banana.

I'm a classic stay-at-home mom example of a young woman who takes care of her family first, and then gobbles down a meal in a hurry AT THE VERY END OF cooking a meal whilst doing the dishes, then feeding baby, wiping mouths, drying up the spilled drink, and serving hubby *who is a good helper too*. I'm also very anal when it comes to having a clear table to eat at; all extra bowls, dirty kid's place settings and unnecessary condiment bottles would be put away prior to me eating anything...just one of my quirks. So, when it's my turn to eat, I maybe don't eat at all, or just inhale and wonder what I tasted.

My work is cut out for me in rearranging some of my behavior around food and portion sizes.

I'm going to make this a better week and see if that scale can't move 3 pounds instead of 1.

I am a big grazer. I want to just eat all day long! It has been an adjustment, but I have adopted the 6 smaller meals a day mindset and it is helping. Good luck this week!

Oh Sister! I'm right there with you...I love to eat too! I believe that's why many of us are here. Great job on your weight loss!! It's great that you're being self reflective and changing behaviors that are causing you trouble. I tend to skip lunch, myself and use that time for cleaning up etc., but then end up snacking later- typically mommy stuff. emoticon
