Woke up before the alarm went off at 4 am and was greeted by the sound of rain beating on the roof. I was temped to turn off the alarm and go back to sleep, but meeting fellow Sparker Julie to exchange a sad looking banana tree for some asparagus crowns. As I've mentioned before, the hard freeze did a lot of damage.
Found Julie at a local school handing out vegetable and fruit boxes in the dark, with rain pouring down on her smiling face. Gotta love such a great attitude! We traded plants and my husband and I headed off into the dark to hit the first grocery store.
We finished up all of our running around before 8:00, put all the groceries away and noticed that the rain had just about stopped. We quickly raced for our coats and hats and headed out for a walk. The four miles took a little longer than usual, it was slippery with lots of puddles and running water. We had to keep an eye out for the areas where the running water ran accross the road to avoid being splashed by the cars. During our walk it drizzled, quit, rained, stopped and looked like it might just clear out. We had just gotten back to the house and hung up our we coats when the heavens opened up and just dumped! Whew! Home free one two three.
