Mardi Gras...

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Help! I'm supposed to be attending a fundraiser for Sacred Heart Hospital called The Mall Ball. It's a black tie affair in Mardi Gras style. Masks, and costumes everywhere. The trouble is the food that's going to be there....all the "A" list restaurants have tables set up with "free" food! What's a Sparker to do?? The very idea of Mardi Gras is overindulging and throwing everything to the wind!! I don't want to look like a party pooper ~~~~ any ideas?

Well first off, I would recommend doing a cardio/HIIT workout earlier in the day to help boost up your metabolism.

Next? Try eating enough filling/fiber based foods to help keep you feeling full throughout the day so you can avoid additional snacking before the event.

When you make it to the event, try to keep yourself moving! If possible, attempt to keep the portions small if you get to choose. Or ask servers to reduce the amount of portions. Eat more of what you know is good for you, but do not deprive yourself of trying a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

Another thing to remember is to keep the days leading up to the event filled with healthy, nutritional foods! Avoid as much processed and high sodium based foods as possible. This will keep your digestion on track so you won't already feel uncomfortable the day of the event. Plan your meals ahead of time if you can.

If there is dancing at the ball, perhaps partake in a little. It's fun exercise! Yay! The more you mingle, the more you move about.

And lastly, water water water. Stay hydrated, but don't over do it

But all in all, I hope you have a wonderful time at the event and are able to feel confident enough in yourself. This is meant to be a fun event, not something you should worry over. You can do it! emoticon
