Walk in Foots Cray Meadows (pictures!)

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Today we went for a walk in Foots Cray Meadows, was rather muddy with the snow melt, and alternatively still frozen and icy and slippery!

We went across the fields and went to the small church to look around the graveyard, some stones where so over grown and there where some curious metal grave...um markers, not stones!

I hope you can see these images, its very amusing to me, we discovered the filter on the lens had got dusty and it created lots of "orbs" in the low winter sunshine, very funny since we are exploring a graveyard, there is an orange one and a green one with lots of grey ones around it!

Then we went back across near the river, which was small and shallow then deepened into the rush you see coming under the bridge, this is a longer exposure shot, which is how you get the soft water look.

We also saw a heron, I love his reflection on the water!

I really wish you could make the pictures on here bigger!

Love the Celtic cross! I have these all over my house for decorations.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful pictures. I must visit the UK one day. Most of my family were originally from Scotland and Ireland.

lovely! And if you want to make pix bigger turn the camera sideways and take portrait rather than landscape shots, they come out twice the size. It's the width of the uploaded photo that's fixed, not the length. For even bigger I guess you could crop to very tall and narrow pix, I've seen one or two people do this. Just off to google where this actually is . . . because you live in south London which is completely unknown territory to me, you know all kinds of places I've never been!

So much more fun than walking at the gym. I live by a river, and hope to be able to take some walks this week, since it is supposed to get above 50. I always think it will be devoid of wild life, but ducks seem to stay year round. I love to sit on the bridge, and watch them swim.

We have a heron nesting site, but people went to gawk, and scared them away, so they relocated farther down the river. They are rare here, so now they are not telling people about them, so they can have some peace and quiet. You can see them from the park, but unless you canoe down the river, you can't get near it.

Looks like you had fun.
