Eat to live without added sugar!

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Since joining Spark People a year ago, I've worked to cut out sugar from my diet. Here are a three of my life changes:
1. I make my own salad dressings-healthier oils and no sugar.
2. I buy fresh peanut butter-no sugar.
3. I drink seltzer water instead of soda-no sugar.
Every week I find one small area to either change or learn about. I watch Dr. Oz almost every evening, and learn from what he has to say. I'm reading Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book Eat to live with Diabetes.

It's the small, simple changes that make a BIG difference. My glucose readings have gone from 180 to a consistent 110. I have more energy and I feel great all because I'm eating to live rather than living to eat.

Doing great, I am just starting Joel Fuhrman's book. Pat in Maine.

I was wondering about the Hype when I looked for it at the library. Too many books especially about Diabetes become way too religious so I have backed off. I purchased and never finished The Sugar Solution. Pat in Maine. I prefer only facts and no Hype.

Thanks-Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think you are onto something. I actually like the taste of things like peanut butter without the sugar... and ... the less sugar the better for us diabetics. Good tips - thanks.

AWESOME! Proud of you!! I have been off sugar now for 2-1/2 yrs. and gotta say, it's H-A-R-D! BUT considering my sugars started out at a very depressing 330 in the beginning, and I've gone from that to the 70's and 80's, giving up the sugar AND the salt too, are totally worth the effort!

I love the title of your blog. That's what I tell myself all the time! Eat to live, don't live to eat! Makes a huge difference in the mindset.

so, keep on pushin;!!! It's all good.

Love, love, love, Joel Fuhrman, in my opinion one of the best and no hype...the man knows his stuff because he actually has done the work for many many years. Solid science, studies and success. A plan you can live with and as well God made foods!
Good Luck and Blessings,
Erin
