It don't come easy...

Saturday, January 26, 2013

You know it don't come easy....the fact of the matter is that every overweight person, whether obese or merely needing to lose 10 extra pounds, would sooo love there to be an easy fix. The moment someone realizes you are losing weight, it's like the heavens part and the angels sing and time stands still as they wait for you to give them what amounts to the secret of the universe. It's as if they are sure it's something magical, because no matter how much they know the truth, that diet and exercise have led you down this road to success,; deep down they are certain you have found an easy way. One that allows you you continue to eat as you wish, and not move off the couch, and still drop the pounds!

But alas, the bubble bursts when you explain your method, and further confound them by stating you aren't on a diet, but a change of your lifestyle. It's sad really, how no one wants to do anything, but wish the pounds away. As all of us know, that just won't happen. For we've all been there, with those same dreams, but until we are willing to do the hard, dirty work, the end result was the same; nothing happens, except most likely, gaining more weight, and making you more miserable!

Eating properly+burning more calories than you consume+committing to it daily, is the magic formula, the Holy Grail of weight loss.....sorry to disappoint....

But, the good news is the results are so worth having! Increased health, the ability to run and play with your children/grandchildren, sitting in a theater seat comfortable, participating in a sport or activity you had previously been unable to do because of your weight; these things are priceless! It's as if, there was an entire world locked away from you, and now it's opened up in front of you. I know that's where I'm headed, and I will be better prepared when I get there, to maintain those results.

Losing weight is hard, and maintaining that loss may be even harder, but, nothing worth having is ever easy!

Nope, there's no magic out there...if there were easy, low-risk methods for reliable long term weight loss and maintenance would there be ANY obese people around?!?! And if there actually WAS such magic, don'tcha believe the airwaves would be a-buzz about it?
