You Need Confidence For This Game

Friday, January 25, 2013

The hubs and I watch a lot of Ancient Aliens on The History Channel. We find it amusing and entertaining. However, what really rubs me the wrong way is that the show states on many occasions that "ancient astronaut theorists contend" that ancient humans were incapable of building structures like the pyramids, and that aliens had to have helped them.

We weren't GOOD enough or SMART enough or SKILLED enough to complete complex tasks.

Just like ancient humans, each and every one of us is CAPABLE of losing weight. We just need to put our gosh dang MINDS to it, darn it! (Imagine this sentence as a sailor would say it, because I'm self-censoring here.)

Yes we all suffer self-doubt sometimes. But if you don't think you're capable of great things you're never even going to stinkin' TRY.

Do you want to give someone else credit for something YOU did? HECK NO!

Was it your trainer who pushed you to run that extra mile? Was it aliens who held you down and forced you to eat only one portion of dinner and stay within your calories? Was it God that stuck a funnel in your throat to get in those 8 glasses of water today?

Give yourself the dang credit. Because if you realize you're the one who did it in the first place, then you can convince yourself to continue. You gain the CONFIDENCE to beat this weight loss game.

Success LEADS to MORE SUCCESS. Confidence leads to BELIEVING you can SUCCEED.

So stop whining, put one foot in front of the other, weigh and measure your food, drinking your water, and TAKE OWNERSHIP FOR WHAT YOU DO.

Who's fault is it when you fail? You blame yourself, right? But who gets the credit for all the good you do. SOMEONE/SOMETHING ELSE. No, you did the good stuff too. You're responsible for it all. OWN IT!

My beau is always saying that anything can be accomplished with enough lube or brute force!
Knowledge, eating right, and exercise ...lube
willpower and self control ...brute force!

Well... aliens once abducted me and then put my car back down in the wrong spot, cause I know it couldn't be possible that I just managed to totally miss the turn I had made 2398572394857 times. But no, I don't think they help me eat my veggies.

Seriously, though, this was a great post. And you are right about taking the blame yourself but not giving yourself credit for the good stuff. Excellent blog!

Love it! You are so right! Ir's always easier to be negative to/with ourselves but for whatever reason giving our selves credit is difficult. Nope, aliens are getting my credit! emoticon emoticon Have a great weekend!

Haha...aliens! My husband doesn't really like to watch that one, I think, becaus it's too silly. Heck, I have that anthropology degree, but I think it's hilarious! Aliens were surely responsible for constructing that dude's hair!

(but srsly, good blog)

    Get 'em girl!

And you're totally right, btw. The "ancient" humans had exactly the same brains we did, and therefore the same mathematical capabilities. :D
