Back to the Future; Letter to My 16yr Old Self

Friday, January 25, 2013

Ok, so the Biggest Loser Club challenge is to write a letter to our 16 year old selves. Here goes:

Guuuuuuuurl, all I can do is SMH (shake my head). You are a hott mess right now but let's not dwell on the negative. emoticon You will mature, and you will grow...sooner than you think is possible. I'm just dropping by to give you some advice on health and fitness that you should take very seriously from this day forward.
You don't pay particular attention to your health yet, but you are healthy and aware of your weight. 130lbs isn't very heavy for most people, but you are short so you should be careful and not let that get too far away from where it is now. You don't know it yet, but this is YOUR ideal weight no matter what those charts say. The diets you've begun trying aren't worth your time and you should definitely NOT be trying those shakes and pills. You are so controlled with spending money, yet you're wasting it on that nonsense. You aren't even fat!

You know that sales lady in Saks that called her coworker over to show you off with your "perfect hour glass figure" as she called it? Well, she's right. Your body is awesome. If you take care of it now, you will appreciate it AND it will treat you well later. In a couple years you'll head off to college and learn ALOT of new information about health and fitness. At that time you'll stop eating meat, cheese, fries, chocolate and drinking soda. So unnecessary but being extreme the way you are, I know you're just rolling your eyes as I tell you this. LISTEN to me!

The key to good health is balance. So from this day forward I want you to focus on that. You're already very active. Balance that with healthy foods and you'll be golden. Stray from this path and you'll wish you'd listened to me. Most importantly, when you have your 2nd baby...(YES YOU WILL HAVE KIDS. DON'T INTERRUPT ME WHEN I'M TALKING.) Anyway, do not use that as a free pass to eat mess! You eat healthy and are very strict with the first baby, but you lose your mind with the 2nd one. WTF?! (I know you don't know what that means. It hasn't been invented yet. Stay with me. I'm serious here).

Get it together girl! Oh, and I know you aren't mushy right now, but as I said...you'll mature. So this is you, me, us saying we love you! emoticon emoticon

Great blog! Oh to be able to actually go back in time and change things! But where we've been has made us who we are, lessons learned along the way. We're just older and wiser now.

Oh to be young and know it all again....no; on second thought where did THAT get me?!* I think I'm going to stay right where I am - older and wiser even if it does mean working backward a bit and filling in some BAD choices/decisions with do overs!

Sounds to me like 16 year old Skee turned into a wise Mom....did you ever tell yourself you would NEVER turn into your mother? Did you? Truth or dare....

emoticon so funny yet I believe this to be very true. When youíre young you have no cares in the world and you don't really think about how the choices you make now could very well affect you in the future. I have often said (preached) on this journey that If I knew then what I know now, I would have made better and healthier choices. I see so many people in the world now with preventable illnesses that they got from bad/wrong choices that they made often times from lack of knowledge.

Now that youíre wiser, I truly hope that you enlighten all those who will listen about taking care of one self NOW because if you donít, it will catch up with you later.

Much success to you on your journey!!!
