Sorry I haven't been around all week. I worked 10 or 11 hour days Monday through Thursday this week. I had my yearly performance review on Thurday. We don't get raises based on them, so I wanted to use it to change some things I haven't been enjoying. My boss has been dumping too much of her stress on me and then retaliated when I tried to make myself unavailable for it. We also got a new person on my immediate team and I very much like her personally, but she often tells me she knows more about my job than I do, which isn't accurate. Between the two of them, I knew i had to make a change before I impulsively quit. So my proposal, which took all week for me to work up and was accepted, is for me to work fewer hours in my office, and some weekends and evenings doing community organizing. It'll get me out from my position of "sitting duck" at my desk, and it'll be a lot better for everybody since community organizing is my forte and much needed.

Also, I haven't mentioned this because i hate it when I whine, but the holidays depressed the few daylights right out of me that my normal state of depression lets me have. I've been making my friends get me out more. I'm also trying to exercise more often. It's all helping, but has kept me hopping from 4a.m. til 9p.m. I had today off because I worked during Monday's holiday. Last night, I went to bed (and almost wet the bed, lol) so excited about sleeping in.

Despite all the shifting and drifting, I've lost 2 pounds this week! Today is my 9th day without sugar other than a daily banana, orange and 1 square of 75% chocolate. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be because I cut back more over the past year than I thought I did. I think i have 2 weeks being wheat free too. And for 7 of the past 9 days, I've had at least a 200 calorie deficit. My goal is to lose 4 pounds between Jan. 15 and Feb. 28 and I'm already half way there as long as I behave myself.

Now that I've taken care of some things, I plan on being around more. Thanks tons for the notes and goodies. I've missed you too!

    Good for you coming up with a plan for getting out of the office and doing something you are bgood at. Way to go on losing those 2 pounds and staying away from sugar! emoticon You are an inspiration to us all. emoticon

    I'm glad you were able to get thins worked our so your job won't be so stressful. I k ow your my what you do. Great job of standing up for yourself and having a plan in place to make it happen.

    Sharon, you continue to amaze me. Love how you came fully prepared for your evaluation with your own as to what changes you would like to implement that would benefit both the centre and tap into your strongest skills. (without mentioning that you are tired of being a punching bag). Good for you for not just leaving. That must have taken a tremendous amount of self control.
I don't know what it is about this particular time of year but I am aware of a lot of people who are struggling emotionally. I am so happy to see that you are finding ways to cope that are non-prescription based though I am sure that this is not easy. You seem to be thriving in the city surrounded by loving friends. Lucky them. You are a gift. Truly!
And a huge congratulation on losing 2 pounds and stepping away from sugar. Seriously you are making huge strides on all fronts. It is wonderful to hear about. Great blog!

    Excellent that you gave a lot of thought to your work situation and came up with a brilliant solution!

Your weight loss is going well, and despite getting depressed you seem to be overcoming it and thinking positively.

    Sharon, I am in awe of you for your positive attitude and great choices in spite of all that's been going on in your life. Great choices include eating, exercise, preparing a proposal (that was accepted emoticon ) and spending time with friends. Yes, we've missed you, but something's got to give when you work a bazillion hours per day and put up with all that stress. I'm glad it was SP rather than eating right and exercising, etc. emoticon emoticon But I'm also so happy that you were able to be in touch with us again.

I am SO PROUD of you for losing those pounds.....one word of advice - don't go looking for them. LOL

    You did a great job taking care of yourself and thinking it through. Well done. It is better to go to bat with a proposal in place than just going to the bat empty handed.

I started to feel better as soon as Christmas was by, The days are getting a bit longer so that is helping. Then I kind of had so much to do for DH I have just given up on exercise.
My back was really stressed because I had to lug a lot of stuff like DH clothes and his C pap machine and the walker.
Now I am getting ready to think about exercise it is time for sure, otherwise I will feel like giving up I am so weary tonight. HUGS So happy you advocated for yourself so well, I am proud of you HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

    emoticon for standing up for yourself and taking action on it. Way to go and so glad they accepted your proposal and now you will get to do something you can enjoy.
emoticon job on losing the 2 lbs even with all this stress. You will make those 4 lbs ahead of your schedule at the rate you are going!
