Calling All Fashionistas...

Friday, January 25, 2013

In March my husbands' daughter is getting married. Here is the dress I have chosen: XS in the purple(my favorite color)

and in case the link doesn't work:

Now here's my question, a 2 parter.

Shoes & stockings. Colors? Considering it'll be hard to find shoes to match that color I'm thinking black heels. But then what color stockings--black to match the shoes or purple to match the dress?

Here's question #2.

We have a cruise scheduled for March and there's always the 'fancy' dinner--dressy dress.

Here's what I've chosen(in addition to the above outfit)

This is more of an eggplant color and it is GORGEOUS! Here are the shoes I plan on: in the purple

And they are a PERFECT match to the eggplant!
My heels always have to have the strap(Mary Jane type)becuz I walk right out of 'em-high arch or something I guess.

So, stockings? Black or an eggplant color? Or nude?

emoticon I get so confused when deciding on stocking color!

They're both lovely. I'm thinking the short one in animal for me. I'd go for a sheer black stocking.

I personally stopped wearing hose a long, long time ago, so my vote is for no hose. If you do wear hose, I would go with a tone close to your natural skin color.

I don't wear hose anymore. I either get a spray tan use some of the Sally Hansen's instant legs spray for some color. You could wear a tan/nude color shoe with the purple. Love the dresses!

I love both dresses, and those shoes are SO beautiful!
You will look stunning in these outfits.
I would go with the tan nylons like I usually wear with dresses.

Stay neutral on the hose to show off those sexy, sleek legs that you have working on!

Both dresses are beautiful and those are colors I would buy myself. I would go with a sheer black or neutral. Trying to match both the shoes and the dress with colored stockings can be tricky and can go really wrong. Also, you are on a cruise, so personally, I would almost go with a self tanner on your legs and forgo the hose altogether! But that is just me emoticon

I love both dresses Michele and I'd go for nude stockings or very sheer black!

Congrats to the happy couple and I hope you enjoy yourself. It would be lovely to see some pics of the big occassion!

I've always stayed with the neutral color stockings, I personally think they are so much more flattering to your legs and dressy looking.

Both dresses are great, and would be very nice for either occasion. Enjoy yourself, you'll look great!!

I like the dresses. I don't like colored stockings. They look cheap and make you look like you are wearing a cheap spandex pant suit.

    Hmmm...I love both dresses!

Stockings and shoes are tricky! I have been reading some fashion books for over 50 like myself...the advise is to keep a long leg line black shoes black hose...maybe a sheer hose? Another popular option is a nude shoe with nude hose...very long leg look. I am a short girl so I am all about looking longer!

Good luck! Fun times ahead!
