Turning Point Day

Friday, January 25, 2013

Today was the last day at my old job. I had a couple of celebrations yesterday that were very nice. They had a huge sheet cake with all the managers before lunch and I avoided it. Passed out slice, but declined for me. We went out to lunch at a nearby restaurant and I opted for a good salad. Pleased. Got back in the office and someone had brought down the remnants of the cake. I finally succumbed to 2 slices and a few fingerfulls of icing off the bottom of the tray. I'd forgotten how addictively sweet the icing is on those things.

I have my new badge, new laptop sitting right here. I start Monday morning bright and early. People were commenting on how wide my grin has been the past few days. I picked out new office furniture and some pictures (well, new to me - it comes from cast offs from other offices). When I'm finished working at the main offices downtown, I'll be back at my old hospital and new office.

I see my surgeon in a few weeks (a little over 2). Debating whether or not to postpone the appt. until I'm finished training and have more free time to do it. I'll decide next week. I also have court this next week for rear ending that lady. Have no clue what the fine will be...the judge decides. We have been trying to save back money in case its an arm and a leg.

Doing pretty good on my diet. Not so much on exercise, not like I want to, but better than none. There is a fitness place right across the street from where I'll be and it's tempting to join. They have one by the hospital too. Wait to see how much court costs and then I'll decide.

I just feel like a massive weight is off my shoulders and I am moving forward again. Can't begin to express how good it felt to get out of the situation I was in. I can also attest to the fact that stress and losing weight don't work. The more stressed I got, the more the weight stayed the same or went up. It was not pretty all fall and winter. At least I stayed within 5 pounds the whole time. I'm glad to be back on track with losing and will update my monthly stats in a few weeks. Just giving myself time to re-calibrate.

Well, off to do some stair machine work before it gets too much later.

Congratulations for moving to another position. If you kept in range with all that stress, you can do anything you put your mind to. I added you as a friend, have a great day.
