So just as I started Spark People, I had my first obstacle. I just had a tooth extracted and I am still quite sore from the procedure. It was a back molar and the removal causes my jaw and mouth to really ache when chewing. My normal diet has consisted of quite a few salads, however salads are really hard to chew with a sore mouth. All my body was craving was ice cream and and sweets (things you eat when you are feeling sorry for yourself). Despite a couple small snacking errors, I managed to stay true to my new lifestyle.
I luckily had homemade soup on hand which was soft and easy to eat. As well I increased my yogurt intake. Normally I eat fresh fruit and homemade granola with yogurt, however both things were difficult to eat so I improvised by cooking up and softening fresh fruit to top my yogurt. I was quite happy that I didn't devour a big container of ice cream!
The only aspect of the past few days that I am not completely happy about is the exercising portion. I had gotten into a good routine of going for a run before work, however, I am instructed not to do any intense exercise for a while until my mouth heals. So today I did some easy elliptical and biking. Hopefully in the next few days I'll be back to my running routine.
