1st Week of BLC/Crochet Poncho/Xmas Potholders

Friday, January 25, 2013

Wow! The first week of BLC21 is over and done with...

I have actually taken a Before picture. I wish I had done that when I first started Sparkpeople, at almost 250 #. Anyway, here is the one I did for BLC21.

I have a goal of 10# to lose at the end of the 12 weeks of BLC21.

One of our first week goals was to Just Do It! I have wondered for two years if I could limit myself to 3 rows on a crochet project per day, so as not to aggravate my tendonitis. I had done nothing to see if I could do so, and when I was thinking about the BLC goal that this would "fit", I happened to get an email from Lion Brand yarn, and it seemed like it was meant to be for me to try to see if I could do so. These were to be done in Homespun yarn, and I had leftovers from other projects done before my tendonitis brought everything to a screeching halt, so that met my frugallness goal for 2013 that I had made near January 1. Lastly, I have a great-granddaughter and a baby girl cousin, and guess who will each be receiving one of these? Here is my first and I plan to have the second done within the week. From the rows to the bottom and neck edging, my three row max is easily fulfilled within a week time frame.

Then there is the progress on my Xmas fabric potholders. I "started" this project in January 2012....yes, I am indeed a procrastinator, but I do plan to do many of these to use up the scraps of Xmas fabric that I have had for at least a decade. Then I will use them as portions of Xmas gifts in December 2013. I am using my need to do crafts, with my frugallness of using up something that I already have.

I lost a pound the first week of BLC21. I am happy about that. I am enjoying my Ivory Falcons team.

very nice, love the ponchos, and such a smart thing to do, I am always buying yarn with big plans and never finishing it, expensive and not too productive either. Way to go on your challenge, 3 rows a day should not hurt you either, I know when I crochet I get very swollen knuckles.

I too am a pack rat where fabric is concerned. I can crochet but my hands do not like it.

I want to make the potholders that you slip the hands in to pockets and they are really safe for big pots. HUGS Pat.
I will look for a pattern on the net and let you see what I mean. We had them in England but cannot find them here. HUGS Pat in Maine.
