I have some small updates to share and thought I’d also take the opportunity to wish everyone an awesome weekend!
First – and most importantly – the Hubster is now fully qualified as human (vs. mobile cootie dispenser). He’s feeling pretty close to 100%. I even took him out for not one, but two dates this week. It’s sure nice to have him back. Thank you so much for the well wishes!
And, yes, I managed to dodge the germs myself (so far!).
Also noteworthy this week is the 20th anniversary of our move to Minnesota! Yes, the Hubster and I left the tropical paradise known as Detroit and left for Minneapolis IN JANUARY! Crazy? Not as much as you’d think. For those of you that are familiar with the city, Minneapolis has a wonderful system of connectors (called Skyways) between many of the buildings downtown. Given that we arrived in the winter months, I actually learned to navigate those before I got to know the crossroads. The city has treated us well and we look forward to many more years in Minneapolis.
I tried for a schedule change to my workouts this week. I was loaded with good intentions… and Mother Nature was loaded with below zero air temperatures, LOL. Those aforementioned skyways are great for getting around, as long as you don’t have to use them before they open. Yes, the skyways close overnight AND – since they are privately owned – each one has a different set of open hours. Suffice to say, I can use the skyways to get to the Y, but not all of the ones I need are open at 6AM. I don’t normally mind the cold – in fact, I’ve always walked outside to the Y from home – but when the wind chill puts us at -25 to -30 degrees, the will to stay home is strong.
I went to an amazing yoga workout on Tuesday. Both Wednesday and Thursday were too much to bear outside, but taking the skyways added 10-15 minutes of extra walking to my work commute; not a terrible trade-off. And I will do some ST and go to Pilates tomorrow, whether I walk outdoors or skyway, since the class is at 8:15AM.
Next week we’ll try the new schedule again. The goal is one yoga class, one Pilates class, two group cycles classes and two days of strength training. That’s sounds like a lot, but there’s plenty of room for flexibility, too.
Then again, for Wed-Fri next week we appear to be in deep freeze once more; brrr! I guess I’ll wait and see how the week REALLY goes for me.
Enjoy the weekend, SparkFriends… and stay WARM!
