A whole new world

I've started school and man, it's gonna be tough. 2 early childhood ed classes, algebra, and an honors English class will definatly be keeping me hitting the books. I'm a bit worried about how to fit in some real workouts since some days I'll be on campus for 8+ hours. I've been thinking about trying some yoga poses but honestly, I'm not good enough yet to take myself through a good routine. There is the track of course, but all the sports teams use it and I really don't want to be flabbing my way around the track feeling badly that all these people nearly 10 years my junior are passing me. I know its my own insecurities but I watch them running and know I can't do that.

So, I'll be working on finding some things that I can do that won't make me feel silly and will get me going. I'm also working on getting some new shoes and an Ipod.

    I know that when I am at school using the gym or the track, I feel insecure too. Especially with all of the athletes that spend all of their time there, but I also have some of those athletes as friends. I have been told on more than one occasion that though they know I'm not in great shape, its still nice to see that I can get out there and try anyway. It doesn't matter if I can keep up with them, I just need to do my own thing and make sure I feel good in the end that I did something. So don't worry about others looking, it might even be a positive thing if they are.

    If it still bothers you, try some work out DVDs at home, maybe you could even have your son partake in the activities. There are so many types of work out DVDs that you might be able to find something that works for both of you, and it could help with his energy levels too.

    Also, I love yoga! It is a great way to relax and get a work out at the same time. You should see if your school offers any group yoga classes. Students usually get nice discounts for using those kinds of services. If not, Yoga DVDs and videos are available or you could look for local yoga studios. Once you do so many posses, they just stick and you can do them anytime. Also you can create your own routine, if you know some of the basic stuff, just put it together into a flowing form that feels good.

    One other thing I like to do. If I have a ton of reading to do for classes, I will set up my books on my treadmill top and run for an hour while I read. You can also get some textbooks on audio and listen to them on your I-pod too. Two birds with one stone.
