Scale frustration

Friday, January 25, 2013

So.. I am having a bit of an issue with my scale(s).. I had a very trustworthy one, until one day it went nuts and everytime i would weigh in it gave me a different weight, so I went and bought myself a cheaper non-electric one.. as I weighed in both, they gave me two different numbers, 5 pounds apart, so I assumed a medium between both results.

Today as I weigh in, I realize that perhaps I should have assumed the highest amount, two of the scales seem to have decided to agree on it.. so it throws off a bit the numbers I had assume.. Other than that, the number this week was not as high as last week.. and to add up to it all, I have a bad case of pms so today I just feel like punching something lol (which I wont!!!) but it is just one of those days.... I know it will pass, and I am still happy that even with my not so ladylike mood today, I did my workout and got a good sweat..

Anyways, just had to vent..

Thank you to anyone who might read! :)

Ck out my Inches vs. Pounds blog. I'm much much happier not weighing every day or at all in fact. I trust that if I continue to make good choices, I'll see a difference in the tape measurement of my waist when I do that again a month from now. The scale was making me nuts!

Do not be frustrated with the scale. I am not frustrated with mine. I realized long ago that it hates my guts, plain and simple. Knowledge is power; I know the bias from which it comes.

Thank you so much FRAN533!!! I am actually noticing many of the things you mentioned, the clothes are definitely getting looser and I can do more workouts and easier every day, so I guess I shouldnt freak out about crazy scales.. I really do appreciate your support! Thanks! emoticon

I have found your weight can change from hour to hour morning to afternoon to bed time. room to room works too! it some times feels like it weights different which you put on the scales first emoticon emoticon
that is why you can't let the scales be your only tool at how your spark journey is going.
think are your cloths fitting better
have i lost inches
work out longer and not get short of breath
eating healthier
just feeling better over all
to help me get over my scales upsets I started a streak no weighting for 2 weeks got this idea from a Spark friend who only weights in every 3 mos that is something i couldn't do this but two weeks works for me. You just need to remember the saying don't let the scales rule your journey you are more then the numbers on the scales
have a great journey

that 'not to lady-like mood' may have contributed to your good workout - I try to use my moodiness when I have to make customer service type calls - helps me be assertive enough to get the info I need.

I understand the frustration. I have a brand new digital scale. Sometimes when I first weigh myself I'm thrilled because the number will show like a 5-lb loss. Th en I remember. I move the scale about four inches and step on again and reality sets in. It can be frustrating.

Thank you so much Mary! You make a very valid point... I think from now on I will just pick one and stick to it, after all, the actual number that I weigh is not as important to me as to have accuracy in the amount that I loose every week.. I think that will save me a lot of tantrums, if I am not PMS'ing lol
Try to look for the bright side of being stuck inside today.. rain can be very calming and nice, specially in the evening..
Thank you so much for your support!

I have found all scales weigh different. I have a lady that I clean her house and I weigh on her scale and it weighs the same ,or shall I say ,her's doesn't do ounces mine does, but the big numbers match mine. I can weighs here and go to the doctors, within and hours time and the scale weighs me 4 to5 lbs. more. So I go by mine, because if you don't it can drive you insane. I weigh at the same time of the morning and I have checked it latter in the day and it can be a few lbs. up or down. I know some of it is water. It is frustrating . I have felt like punching ,screaming, jumping up and down, and throwing it through the window.(lol) , but I don't , I will still step on it another day hoping to see the numbers I want. Have a good day. I am stuck indoors today, we are having the freezing rain issues.
