Bad Weather Predicted For Today & Did Well at Super Doubles Again

Friday, January 25, 2013

My husband and I finally broke down and bought a new dishwasher yesterday. I did check prices first online before heading out and we went with the store that had the cheapest price and could get the dishwasher to us first, LOL. We saved almost $50 by checking prices first.

If it had been the higher-priced store, I had my internet print-out of the cheaper store in my hands and would have had them price match. emoticon

I also stopped by Lowe's Foods since they are having super doubles (they double a $2 or less coupon) and believe it or not my total was around the same as yesterday (bought different things though) and was a little over $70 and was reduced to $17 after all the coupons and electronic coupons came off! emoticon

They are predicting sleet and freezing rain today and I am so stressed out that we may lose power and lose all the stockpile of groceries I have in the fridge/freezer. I'm really hoping and crossing fingers/toes that it doesn't happen. Not only that, it is VERY cold for our area of the country right now and it would be very cold in the house very soon after losing power.

If anyone in the neighborhood loses power, it's always us since we are the only one hooked up to overhead power lines vs. underground like every one else has. emoticon

They are either closing schools early or not opening at all according to the tickers on the bottom of the tv.

Excellent tip about turning the thermostat on the fridge/freezer up. I had not thought of that, thanks! emoticon

It started sleeting this morning and stopped, but has started back again for a few hours without stopping. It's sticking to the windshields of the cars, which bothers me since it is probably sticking to the power lines. emoticon

I've got my laundry going and trying to work on dishes, which is hard to do with a failing dishwasher, LOL. My hubby got out our supply of paper plates, etc. to use (if we lose power and also for now since the dishwasher is on the fritz).

Thank goodness I use coupons because my stockpile of disposable plates, cups, etc. will definitely be put to good use!

Excellent work on the washer deal! Enjoy the new one. Hope the weather turns out not to be as bad as you expect. Have you turned up the thermostat on your refrig and freezer? It will help keep things cold for a bit longer if the electric goes out. Just remember to turn it back to normal once the threat is passed. I don't know about you but I am already done with the cold (15 here this morning), and looking forward to SPRING! emoticon Have a good day my friend!
