Need better attitude

Friday, January 25, 2013

:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:. .:~*~:

Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money,
than circumstances, than what people do or say. It is more important
than appearance, giftedness, or skill.

Charles Swindoll

I have heard it many times but tend to forget – my attitude is not only the result of willpower or awareness, it is also a result of what I do. I have heard many alcoholics getting sober telling about their mentality changes over the first years - there are obviously a lot of things going on in our brains that we really canīt control with "quick-fixes", it takes time and effort

That is why the spark people approach with "slow-and-steady" has a good chance of success.... attitude is all but you also have to give yourself the best options for a good attitude by making small choices that changes things...

For the moment my atitude is not the best. It is partly the cold weather, I get very neurotic when the temperature sinks down under -10 (and it is still january, I canīt hope for a permanent warmer waather in yet another month) probably also the anxiety about doing another business edition. If so it will be gone by the end of next week when I am supposed to be finished.

I need to do some mental exercises to feel better about myself and my life. Met a lot of people yesterday and felt sort of alien, maybe I should use some of the wisdoms I learned in that book about philosophy.

I have avoided the gym in january because that is the month when everybody else is there. February will be my big month of building muscles... my dogsitter has had surgery on a foot but I can leave doggy with her and then use my lunchbreak to walk him so february will be "the" motnh trying to find a logisitc with dog-work-exercise that works... Inspired by Spark Friend Christina I have ordered a new swimsuit and intend to combine the gym with indoor pool...same locker rooms.

It is a cloudy morning which hopefully means that the temerature will rise to zero, it is 16 C in my kitchen, my fingers are cold!

-10C would cause me to be more than neurotic! I get a little crazy when it's +10f, our weather where I live never goes below zero. But spring is here now, even tho I'm catching up on your blogs so this one was written in January.

Winter comes every year, like it or not. These last few years since low wattage CFL bulbs are common, I have a small lamp with a small CFL burning in every room when it is dim or dark. It's amazing how it helps not to have any dark corners in my house.

Try to add some sun into your day. It can be a real uplifting feeling.

Some of this might be S.A.D.---Seasonal affective disorder (also called SAD) is a type of depression that occurs at the same time every year. If you're like most people with seasonal affective disorder, your symptoms start in the fall and may continue into the winter months, sapping your energy and making you feel moody.
I have two "full spectrum bulbs" one in the lamp by my chair where I watch TV and do a lot of my "sparking" and the other by my desk and computer in my office. If I'm sitting, I'm usually in one of those two places. Will post a picture in a blog when I'm done here. I think it helps. These are bulbs that are often used for plants. January and February are difficult months! Ice here today. Stay warm and well! Hugs.

I think it was TS Eliot who wrote "April is the cruellest month" - well, I think January is more apt, lol... Freezing cold here too, tho I daresay not as cold as Sweden. What will dispel this cabin fever?

I hear you regarding January-at-the-gym. I suspect our local ones are also at their busiest time of year. My sessions don't start until February, and at first I was impatient, but after reading what you wrote and thinking about the New-Year-Resolution crowd, I'm considering February might be a better way to go...
