I spent time on my bath and then DH wanted so badly to take a real shower and wash his hair.
The shower is in the basement and the stairs are the typical narrow treads.
I asked him to use my bathroom shower, he said he could not see how we could do it. He was sure he would not be able to get in to the tub.
I already had the plan in my head I knew if I told him he would back off so I went step by step.
I began with turning the furnace up so he would not shiver, just lately he has been doing this. The Dr said it happens for some people and it is a reaction to the body getting used to the implant. He said some people do have a fever so that could be the shivering we see.
My tub has glass doors and there was no way I can get them out. I pushed them together to make the widest opening possible and I threw a towel over the bottom of the tub.
Then I used my IGLOO cooler, it is just the right height for a seat on a picnic so I put that on the towel and put another towel over the lid.
I told DH he had to wash his hair it was getting really greasy. I told him my plan and I told him if he is hurting or uncomfortable I will back off.
He stepped in to the tub, it has good grab rails.
I produced a Waterproof Poncho and put it over his head. He sat with his back to the shower and I took down the hand held shower head and I sprayed his lower back with warm water so he could tell how warm he wanted it.
He likes very warm water. Then I sprayed his head and shampooed his head and his beard. He was feeling good because of the hot water so I washed and rinsed his head again.
I took off the poncho and and used the spray to wash his back and he was a happy camper. He sat and soaped his body and I sprayed him with the hot water. Mission accomplished !!
I had a robe ready to put on him and then we went to the living room with the propane Jotul stove going it was 75 degrees so it worked very well.
After a cup of hot tea and a SCONE he told me what a great job I had done for him WOO Hoo way to go to hear DH saying THANKS and gave me a BIG HUG.
He did all of his exercises and sat in the chair with his leg elevated. he fell asleep and I did not realise he was in that position way too long so his back was hurting. I had some BIO-FREEZE and it has calmed it down.
It is now 15 below at this time so we are off to bed early. HUGS Pat in Maine.
Definitely an entertaining day, lots of laughing so it was GOOD!!
