Improving me.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

I've read a couple blogs recently that inspired me to make my own list of ways I can improve my life and be a happier person.

emoticonMake an effort to more present in my life and the life of my family.
~ put my phone away when conversing with guests and my family. Listen to what they have to say.
~ make more time for my kids. Talk to them more. Help Hannah with school work or other activities. Go to more events one-on-one.
~ watch TV with Mark without being distracted by my phone or computer.
~ eat more meals in the dining room even though it's cold in there. Get a heater going while I cook.
~ when the girls get home from school, ask them about their day and listen.

emoticonMake more times for me and do more things that I love.
~ finish the books I've started and start some new ones.
~ take more bubble baths.
~ post regularly in my blog.
~ be more active on Sparkpeople and less on BBC and FB.
~ find my creative side. Learn to sew, try crochet and art.
~ cook more and try new recipes.

emoticonFocus on my health.
~ be more physically active. Remind myself that what hurts today makes me stronger tomorrow.
~ track my food and be conscious of what I'm eating.
~ eat less junk and more real food.
~ drink more water.
~ drink less soda.
~ go to bed around 10. Every night.
~ plan meals.

emoticonPay it forward
~ be kind to others.
~ smile at strangers.
~ lend a hand.
~ be more aware of others.
~ be supportive through words and actions.

emoticonFind beauty in something every day.
~ go outside.
~ look at the moon.
~ hug my kids.
~ snuggle my husband.
~ remember my strengths and how far I've come.

I like your fully balanced approach to what you want to create more of in your life. I would recommend focusing on a few things at a time, and not expecting yourself to do all of them immediately or all the time. Developing new lifetime habits is a gradual process and easier to maintain when they are introduced or undertaken slowly--at least that's been my experience. I wish you great success and joy on your journey!
