My first grandchild is making an early entrance!!!

Thursday, January 24, 2013

My daughter went in for a normal checkup yesterday and her blood pressure, which has been high for awhile, is now causing concern. The baby isn't gaining weight as she should and there is a risk the placenta may be compromised. However, my daughter has been reassured over and over again that while the baby is small (around 5 pounds) she is FULL TERM, FULLY-DEVELOPED, and will not have any problems with lungs or anything else. She just won't be spending the last 3 weeks in the womb gaining weight.

So, DD has been in the hospital since yesterday morning as they tried to induce labor.

No dice.

So the plan was to send her home this afternoon and have her come back tomorrow for another round of pitocin. The doctor was filling out the forms to discharge her when...HER WATER BROKE!

So, it's GAME ON!

I'm going to be a GRANDMOTHER! Or MEEMEE! Or GAMMA! Or MEEMAW! Or GRANNY (um, not really)! After such an emotional week I am ready for something happy to happen, and it IS.

God works in mysterious ways, does he not?

I am grateful.

Member Comments About This Blog Post:

I went on a hunt for you today as I, once again, became unsubscribed to your blogs. I swear I don't know how that happens as every time I do get an email notification I go right to it from my email (which I've been told keeps it active) and boom! I assumed you and TC were busy with your travels. Yes indeed you have been busy with family. You have been thrown from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family as you celebrate the beginning of new life and the closing days of another. Peace to your heart spark sister.

How wonderful. And your Dad will get to know his newest descendant has arrived!

Please let us know all the baby details! And Photos! You might be called, "Oma," like me, or "Gammie," like my Dad's mother was. Sometimes those little ones name us themselves.

God does work in mysterious ways. Enjoy his newest blessing to you.

Three weeks early isn't too bad, but I will be praying for all to go well for mother and child. Congratulations! Becoming a grandmother is one of the greatest gifts there is, not to mention being a reward for making it through the teen years (or whatever age was hardest).
