Behind on my sparking today

Thursday, January 24, 2013

I got off track this morning, I did my am workout and then started laundry, and house cleaning, then breakfast...I helped DH shovel the drive and side walk....we had so much fun we decided to get our shopping done before the weather changed and we got more snow.....
Any way before I knew it ti was 1.30pm and I had not sparked yet.....
We bought muscles and fresh veggies for lunch. DH helped me cook and we had a great lunch, muscles are low in calories and I just love them....so here I am now almost 3.30 pm and just starting my spark stuff....

I am subscribing to the Consumer Report magazine, well more news letter...I hope I enjoy it....some thing I learned there from the sample one they sent.......

Blunt the effects of salt in your body, seem a banana can help control the effect of sodium....says banana are rich in potassium- the mineral that helps regulate sodium....it states a banana a day may help lower your B/P, prevent your arteries from clogging, reduce your risk of stroke and help keep your heart healthy and strong....I make sure DH who has high B/P eats one every day...so now I'm going to eat one too... I love them but they seem high in calories to me but from now on I'm adding one to my menu daily....wondering since red bell peppers are high in potassium if they can help as well, I eat one of them everyday for the vitamin C, they have the most vitamin C way more than oranges or orange juice....

I'll be sharing some of the info I read in the ON HEALTH new letter ...

So have a healthy day, find the foods you love and eat in moderaiton...get up from where ever you are sitting and march, dance, shake your behind, just keep moving....don't sit for more than 30 minutes ...with out getting up and moving....pace while your on the phone....or get on the treadmill or bike if you have one....just stop sitting....movement is what keeps us young and healthy, even if your over weight.....

....keep moving...

I usually eat a banana almost every day. But when a whole banana doesn't fit into my calorie range, I cut it in half. Eat the other half next day, just peel off the thin dry layer that has formed and the banana is fine.

From all I've read and learned, it's any source of potassium that will give the same results. The vast majority of us don't get near the recommended amount of potassium. I eat tons of fresh fruits and veggies and it's rare for me to hit my K+ range since I started tracking it here. Your lunch sounds nice.

So glad you had a great day, Kitt.I love mussels too. Love them with lots of garlic, and I especially love Carrabba's mussels which are in a lemon butter sauce with basil and Pernod. Oh so yummy! Have a hard time getting past them on the menu when I eat there. I knew about the bananas because both of my parents had high blood pressure, and my mom was on dialysis the last 5 years of her life, so she could no longer eat them.

Sounds like a great and productive day to me. I didn't know that about bananas and will be sure and eat one a day from now on. I usually leave them alone because they are high in calories for no more than what you get, but I will make yet another adjustment. emoticon
