Running Solo

Today was the first time I've worked out on my own for awhile. It felt great! That's exactly what I needed to get my head back in the game. There are only 2 treadmills in my gym and they were both occupied today, one by me and the other by a big muscly military guy. Normally, I'd find it intimidating running next to someone like that or running next to anyone for that matter. But today I found it fun!

I was able to keep up with his pace for most of the time, but when he stepped it up into a higher gear I didn't feel bad about staying where I was pace-wise. I just kept chugging along and before I knew it I had been on the mill for twenty minutes. I walked between the 2 mile mark and the 2 and a half mile mark, and then I kicked it into high gear and ran double-time to finish out the 3 miles. I did it all in 36 minutes. Yay!

I stretched for a good 15minutes to get all of my soreness out from the week. i FEEl FANTASTIC!

The Step class I usually participate in was going on while I was stretching. I was so glad I wasn't in there. It looked torturous. I reminded myself that it's a great class, but that sometimes it's more important to do something relaxing and fun rather than something that's going to leave you feeling exhausted; it's a great workout but sooooo exhausting. Today I needed a workout that left me feeling refreshed and I got it.

I'm starting to notice some changes in my body particularly in my booty and my back. I never realized how important those muscles are but how underused they've been. When I opened a heavy door at my office today I noticed it. I thought I needed to build up my tricepts or bicepts to accomplish that effortless pull of the door, but today I felt my armpit (back muscle) being utilized to open the door and HOLY COW that IS easier!

I've also notice that my second booby rack (the fatroll under my boobs, over my ribs) has been minimized. Honestly, I think I'm getting faster results , loosing weight, by strength training than I was when I was mainly running. I'm enjoying the transformation. I can't wait to see what my body can do next!

    Awesome! I've heard hitting the weights will really show the changes and speed up the weight loss.
