Preliminary Race Schedule 2013

As the title states, this is preliminary. Might change significantly as the year progresses.

The crowning race this year is will be the Bear Lake Brawl - Half Triathlon (9/14).

My first focus will be increasing speed running. Signing up for races is my strongest motivator. Here's my spring schedule:
5K - 2/2,
10K - 2/16,
10 Miler -3/8,
HM- 4/6
HM - 5/4
HM - 5/25 (tough one with lots of hills)
Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay - 6/21 and 6/22

Currently swimming 1.25 miles once a week. That's a little more than the swim in the half triathlon.

Currently biking 20-25 miles once a week. The half tri is 56. I'll increase that amount once the bike comes off the trainer. The biking is the easiest section for me.

Currently running 3x a week. Two short runs (3 miles), and a long run (5 miles). Just started doing speed work on one of the short runs. The half tri finishes with a half marathon.

So, in a couple of months:
Will still be swimming the 1.25 miles 1x a week. (tri distance)
Will be biking around 30-40 miles 1x a week. (this depends a LOT on the weather)
Will be running a half marathon monthly, and still focusing on speeding up. (tri distance)

That leaves all summer to focus on speed. It will be nice to train for an event that I'm capable of doing the distance months before. Usually, I'm working up to the distance. That leaves little time for speed work.

Of course, I'll sign up for a triathlon or two in July or August. Probably Olympic distance, we'll see. This summer should be great!

I target smaller races. Most are cheaper, and I find I enjoy them more.
